Alka Yagnik interview umrao Jaan musi

€œJaved Sahab Ka Koi Javaab Hi Nahin hai,€ says Alka Yagnik as she gets all excited about the release of JP Dutta€™s €˜Umrao Jaan€™. €œI don€™t think any other lyrics writer could have done justice to the music of this film. His words are simple but still effective. I think the combination of Anu Malika and Javed Akhtar was ideal for the film,€ she added. Alka Yagnik is undoubtedly the most talented singers the film industry has today. And her voice in the semi classical compositions of Anu Malik is truly sounding outstanding. In fact her voice is giving a greater life to the songs.

Aishwarya Rai has repeatedly been thanking Alka for being her voice in the film. When asked if she kept in mind the actress in mind while singing, the singer replied, €œAishwarya is divine. Her beauty is incomparable. I had to keep the thought of Ghazals matching Aishwarya€™s facial beauty.€ And which is your favorite song in the album? €œI love all my songs€But €˜Salaam€™ is special.€

While Asha Bhonsle is still considered as the voice of 'Umrao Jaan' from the 80s since she crooned some timeless gems for Rekha, the current generation may soon hail Alka Yagnik at that position for years to come.

J.P. Dutta and Anu Malik have roped in Alka Yagnik to be the sole voice of Aishwarya Rai and that's the reason one finds her crooning each of the tracks that feature Aishwarya Rai. This makes 'Umrao Jaan' one of the biggest albums of Alka Yagnik's decade old career ever and is certainly a feather in her shining cap.

The initial reactions to the album have been promising and it seems almost certain that contemporary India would soon get hooked on to these 'raaga' based compositions by Malik.
