Now, before I talk about why debo win in these competitions, I need to write about some other things first. Bare with my writing.
I really don't know when it comes to art (singing, dancing, painting, etc.) what is mean by GOOD and BAD.
I believe that in art there is absolutely nothing like good and bad. All it is that one person's artistic skills are different than others. For a classical singer a hip-hop may be absolute insanity and vice versa. Any art, any idea that comes out of anybody is always going to be GOOD only all it matters is how it appeals to the mass or rather when it appeals. We have seen examples in the past that somebody art got popular a centuries after its creation. So, it did not appeal to one generation but it got popular in another generation. A painting made by a small child with his small little ideas can have a far greater value than its made by a professional one because the way the small child thinks and his ideas can only be possible by him or his age-group and not by a mature person. A best teenager love story can be written by only a teenager in love and not by somebody who is a trained writer. We like Devdas or Parineeta because of the immaturities in its love that somebody of that age can only portray. In case of singing, when somebody like Amir sings a song it becomes a all time hit, same with Amitabh, Abhishek, Sharkukh, Sanjay dutt, these people are not singers but when they sings it becomes big hit. The reason is as I said nothing is good or bad it's only how and when it appeals to the public.
Now these guys sitting there as judges and making big issues of it that what is good and what is bad are there actually looking who can sing somebody exactly like Sonu or Udit or Kishor kumar, in fact all these singers are good and they are different than each other by very tiny fractions. So all these TV shows makes a promise to give us an Indian Idol are fooling all of us and wasting your time and money. My understanding of the meaning Idol is somebody to whom you look upon and want to be like. What qualities Abhijeet Sawant has that a aspiring kids should look upon. Aren't we giving a totally wrong messages by making theses idiots our idols. For last generation the Idols were Freedom fighters who scarified there lives for our nation, now it would be insanity to still keep them our Idols because its obsolete and now are the day to make our idols the technocrats, scientific researchers, medical innovators, sport legends but infact we are making these idiots our idols who has done nothing else in life than singing few songs.
Now, are there Indian channels don't understand that they are making people fool, offcouse they do. But they are very clever and its duniya zukti hai..to zukayo. They are making big money out of it. Because for these reality shows they don't need script writers, free actors, no dancers and then they also get lots of money from phone companies and mobile companies for promoting them. Now, what they are doing is they are artificially creating the larger than life images. And they ask you who you want to make larger than life now. Because we can not afford Amitabh, Sachin, Amabies to sell you our Jassi jassi koi nahi or kahani ghar ghar ki.. so they asking public that you tell us who do you think should sing and advertise for us for next year. So, after becoming idols they sign a contract with them for 1 years and ask them to sing for there serials for one year. And public can not complain about there quality because they are the one who chose them. You see Abhijeet Sawant is singing for serials.
Now how much this singing career worth of actually. It's not like old days now that there will be only one Lata and Asha. Lets consider only Hindi movies, we make about 200 movies per year average will be 6 songs per movie then 1200 songs total with so many talented singers already in the market who are ready to sing for any chance and nowdays its actually nothing upon singers it's the technology that rules the quality so probably when you win these competition you will get about 10-12 songs to sing which will be about 10-12 lakhs income for a year that a average software engineer in India makes nowadays. And also there is a fear of everyday competition with movie-numbers not going up and then once you are out of market you have no value like happened with thousands of talented singers in this business for e.g. Anuradha paudwal, Suresh wadkar, S.P. Balasu and the list goes on..
Now coming back to the issue of winning Debo and he is from Assam. You don't need a fortuneteller to tell about his win. Singing is religion in Bengal and Assam states. Like every guy plays cricket in Mumbai, every guy is a singer in Bengal and Assam. So, no wonder they always ruled the Bollywood music industry with so many singers and Music directors. So, when it comes to the voting the Bengali Dada is always most passionate than anybody else in this country. That's why Ruprekha wins although she has very little talent, very normal looks and if you follow closely most of the times the begalis will come very close to the finals in all the shows happened so far and in future. It is also true that this is the chance for the neglected states to show there existence because they are nowhere in mainstream and that's why Kazi wins. It is also true that mass always goes with the weakest but still confident, promising. India is country of dreams, if you see dreams, sell dreams the mass will follow you. If you already have what it need to be a star most probably people wont like you. We see that some of the talented people get out in first rounds.
The sad part is these shows should be the shows of MUSIC and not the shows of Participants. The show should take the music to upper level not to the participants.
