I was listening to the old episodes when there were 48 contestants and all the mentors(judges) were giving very honest opinions and objecitve comments.

I feel if there was not this mentor nonsense and gharanas and if all the contestants were given honest opinions for their performance from all the judges, and still leave it to the public, the competition may have been fairer and not so much of a bickering . But again, we really cannot trust thepublic to do a fair voting, as we have seen in INdian Idol and FG.

Also it would have been better, if just the total vote count was told, as opposed to talking about North, South, WEst EASt etc, . I think that started the whole region controversy.

What do you think??

I agree...I used to like ALL mentors before.

PUBLIC VOTING was the root cause of all evil in this show.

But, even with voting, why on earth would you declare who is getting the highest votes - let alone which region they come from? Then at least this regional garbage would not have happened.

I also think that there shouldn't be any gharanas at all. This way all judges would give honest comments. Also i think the voting should be changed a bit so the hometown votes woun't take up more than 50% of the total votes.

good pt. i also remember i liked some of those 48 contestants more than the others who were ultimately selected. i think that entire process from 48 to 24 was highly arbitrary. the mentors seemed to be just having fun playing caesar with those 48 n trying to pass smart alecy remarks rather than really assessing anyone. they had those 48 singers sing just a line or two, that's it!
