I dont understand the logic behind chasing an animal and killing it as a sport. Even in Muslim religion you need to slauter the animal in such a way, that it has minimum pain. I dont know about you Seema, but I agree 100% with Varsha's Thoughts. 😕

i see ur point zahidaji, but i am a hindu, so don't know a lot abt muslim religion.... and abt killing animals without reason, r u sure there is a valid reason when we kill for food. when we were nomadic tribes yes, we did not have anything else to survive on and out of neccessity had to kill animals for food... but now most of us eat meat becuz it tastes good, there is always the alternative, of brea, cheese milk fruits vegetables and grains. vegetables might secrete those chemicals but becuz of lack of a vertebrae they don't feel any pain when they r plucked.... i think a kill is a kill, regardless of how much pain they feel.

Dear Seema ji

1.An investigating team is formed headed by an IO in such cases( Investigating Officer, this case being so high profile, SP Jodhpur was appointed the IO for this case by the then CM).
It is 100% a criminal case.

2. All the facts have been discussed & produced in the court, more than 78 witnesses paraded (
many of them turned hostile latter on) and the case has been going on since 6 years now.

3. Degree of involvement is prime determinant in deciding about punishment, this is why Salman is in dock

4. Our point of discussion should be to yield more pressure to get others get roped in punishment.

5. There are some NGOs fighting cases for people in Delhi & around who can't afford bail & are languishing in jail since many years after they were caught with firearms, In this case Salman escaped for too long

6. I can guarantee he will be out in next week

7. When he was arrested long ago for 4 days in this case, one MP from Shiv Sena flew from Bombay to Jodhpur to fight the case for Salman...!!!

I do agree with your point. But where do you draw the line?? Some animal lovers who have given up eating animals for the sake of their love for the animals argue that one should not even drink milk, eat eggs, cheese etc. coz these Animals are producing milk, eggs for themselves, what right does it give us to take that away from them?? That would be injustice to these animals....so really there is this fine line. I wil still maintain that killing animal for eating is fine, but to kill for sports is NO NO.....but I do understand where you are coming from and I respect your thoughts.....however I still think I want to chase Salman and than do the same that he did to that deer 😊

yes... but my taking their milk and making cheese or milk products we r not causing them pain... for me eggs come in the same category as meat, becuz it is an embryo... we all have our own places of drawing our lines 😊 I am not completely against Salman, but i am not completely for him either... i wouldn't exonerate him just yet.... don't have such thought abt salman, we don't want you to stoop to his level. 😊 if we do the same for revenge then there is no difference between us and the criminals 😊

I too was initally very enraged after hearing this story in 2000(?), I love animals too. But later, I being a non-vegetarian really doubted if I had rights to be mad at some person who killed an animal (whatever the reason might be) when I myself eat meat every often. So, my stance on this issue would be just a mere spectator. I agree that Salman had gotten the bad side of the deal when there are other people involved too, but I wouldn't feel too bad about him because I'm sure he'll be out even before he gets to spend time in jail.
All I can hope for is, this should really be an eye-opener for hunters next time before they try to hunt for endagered species.

thanks srianne,

i would personally never advocate for a killer, but being a non-vegetarian i felt it would be a burden on my conscience if i blamed Salman alone

I dont think its even about veg Vs non-veg. Why are we bringing this into the case?
Its just a criminal case against someone who had killed animals that were on the endangered species list...

If by any chance you have missed this...

It is not because Salman killed an animal he is getting punished.
He has killed Blackbug (2) & Chinkara (2), both of them are protected animals under Forest protection act 1980 because they are endangered species. It invites a rigorous punishment of 3-7 years.
He is also guilty of hiding facts & trying to subvert the court.
He also has been charged with illegitimate possession of firearms, tell me what would have happened to a common if he had done the same
