OF COURSE AADESH IS 200% RIGHT

THE TRUE WINNER OF SAREGAMAPA SHOULD BE THE ONE WHO IS INDIA'S CHOICE AS SHAAN HAS ALWAYS MENTIONED IN THE BEGINNING OF EACH EPISODE.

A TRUE WINNER IS A SINGER WHO GETS GOOD VOTES OF 5-10% FROM EACH AREA OF THE COUNTRY.

EVEN IF DEBOJIT WINS WITH THE HELP OF 80 OR 100% OF VOTES FROM ASSAM HE CAN NEVER BE CALLED AN INDIA CHOICE IN THE EYES OF MUSIC FANS

Gosh...how many of you idiots are out there? Apart from the quantity increase in population of India, the govt should also focus on the quality.

Who stopped the Indians in other parts of the country to vote for Vineet/Hema/Himani? If they chose not to waste their money on them, why do you scream foul?

Only 4 states apiece voted for Vineet/Hema/Himani.......votes for Debo flowed in from 7 states in Northeast and 4 states outside....if your peanut size brain allows you, that adds upto 11 states.....

NOW Who is the AWAZ of India? The 3 clowns with votes from 4 states or Debojit with votes from 11 states?

Guys, India was united into 1 nation from 600 princely states before Independence, dont work so hard to disintegrate it. If your brains hurt, sleep at home, but don't scream out stupid things and contaminate India with the viruses of regionalism, language, religion and the rest of the crap package that you know better.

Pity we live in the same country as you do.

Guess we have to learn to live in this country where trash heads like you also have ther opinion to voice.

TV these days is so full of low-quality drama that I've given up watching it. A saas or a bahu occasionally registers fleetingly on my TV screen and my consciousness.

Apart from that there are those equally interminable 'talent hunts'. These compete with WWE in their style of building up rivalries and contests. Singers deliver dialogues in the manner of Batista meeting John Cena.

It's all too melodramatic to bear, but apparently it works with most of my country cousins. Now one of these shows, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa on Zee TV, has finally neared its finale. The mode of selection of these contestants was mainly by viewers poll on phone and SMS.

The first contestant who made it to the round of three is Debojit from Assam. He suddenly found himself facing a rebellion from his fellow-contestants, who threatened to walk out of the event without explicitly stating why. I would have changed the channel at all this natak but a statement by one of the 'mentors' in the show stopped me.

Debojit got 80 percent of his votes from Assam, Adesh Shrivastava said. "We want a voice of India, not a voice of Assam", someone in the studio shouted. Fair enough. Except that, firstly, the fellow had polled more votes than other prospective 'voices of India', and secondly, Assam is still despite its several insurgencies a part of India.

A voice from Assam can be the voice of India as much as a voice from Delhi or Mumbai or Chennai. For the past few centuries, the West has dominated the world. So their perceptions of what is 'mainstream' have come to dominate globally.

Today we all speak English, listen to pop and rock, pride ourselves on our knowledge of Hollywood and European soccer, and of course dress in jeans and skirts and such likes. However, the point to note is that the average college or school student in America doesn't know Hindi, or listen to Indian music, or follow cricket, or know who Amitabh Bachchan is.

When Big B was voted the greatest star of stage or screen in a BBC online poll in 1999, there was considerable consternation in the West. The thing that went around then was that India, with its huge population, had voted for Big B and so he won there was no way he could be better than the best of the West.

Which may be true. If the world accepts the definition of what is 'good' cinema. Unfortunately, for me, a song from Chhote Miyan Bade Miyan is better cinema than an hour of Gone With the Wind simply because I enjoy it more. So there are these disparities in the world.

The artists will treat non-artists as charlatans if we try their game. The West will be miffed if our man wins a global award over their icons. Their sense of domination will get jolted. Now think of how the 'centre' treats the periphery in India. If you don't speak Hindi, don't listen to Bollywood music, don't care about cricket, you're an outsider already.

If on top of that you look different say, Mongoloid your status as second-class citizen is almost confirmed. That's the way life is for many people from the Northeast who come to 'mainland India'.

They can either become duplicates of the 'mainstream' people or stay in their ghettoes. And even if they do adopt 'mainstream' ways, the story doesn't always end happily.

Like Debojit, for example, who sings in Hindi, but must now contend with the fact that his support base is from the Northeast and not the cow belt, which is the 'mainstream' merely because it sends more crooks to Parliament.

Au contraire, it is you who should be sleeping.

Debojit's receiving maximum votes from the 7 sisters is the ULTIMATE example of regionalism. Are the rest of us in different parts of the country SO FOOLISH that we cannot understand the "oh-so-extreme-divinity" of
Debojit's performances that 80% of Assam, which co-incidentally is Debojit's area of residence, can understand?

A fragmented vote in all other parts of the country clearly suggests that the residents of those parts have their own favourite performers from among the few, irrespective of where they come from etc. etc.
And here, we have a fine example of one part of the country, voting in unison for ONE PARTICULAR contestant who just HAPPENS to be from that area.

I'd advise that you all take a moment, think over the situation and then lash out to points which may just be legitimate.

Adesh Srivastava has said something very very sensible. He has appealed to the people of North East to vote only on the basis of the performance of the singers such that the winner who emerges is a collective decision of the entire country due to who he is as a singer and not because of where he comes from.

Also, knowing that Assam has been so rebellious and eager to seperate from our own country, there is nothing wrong with interpreting their voting pattern as a sign of regionalism. Had they considered themselves an integral part of India, the voting pattern from those states would be showing some variation.

At the end of the day, no one can change the fact that though Debojit is a birlliant singer, he does not match up to the likes of Himani, Hemachandra, Nihira etc.

Oh and ofcourse, all mentors have made it evident that though they possess brilliant musical talents and have very good hearts, they are somewhat weak in the sphere of extempore speaking. Thus, whatever they say should be ruminated well by us before we start talking, well, cow-refuse, to put it lightly.

I guess it is only when you leave India and look from "outside within" that you see the stupidity of ASS comments. It is people like him who want to divide and rule. Debu is getting the votes from Indians and WE all need to grow up and smell the roses.

WE have never unified as one country and hence always been vulnerable. The day we unite and become one, we will become the world's Super Power. Imagine a wire rope with 1.2 billion strands - that will be my India and that day is not to far away.

ASS comments proves now that he is one sorry loser. Shame on him, I had great respect for him but it is all gone. Now it is hard to decide who I hate more : HR or him and I hate HR very , very much !!
