How come no one is able to answer my question though. Please justify why you think she is an excellent singer. Listen to her Bhor Bhayi and tell me you don't hear any flaws. Someone prove me wrong, I will gladly change my opinion.

when did abhilasha sang a classical or semi classical song that you are going ga ga over her classical mastery ? I think only sugandha and sniti tried that...

abhilasha has a sweet voice, and she improved from VOI..

for last 2-3 weeks, everyone is giving avg performance ... like not making a trace on mind so that we can come back and listen that again and again.. I hope everyone give us decent performance so that we dont feel like wasting time on it.. .

I think Sugandha deserves the praises she gets. I thought her 7's were too low. She sang the song beautifully today. I usually find soft songs not so suited for her, but she proved me wrong with today's performance.

I agree she does sometimes miss the notes, but overall she's talented singer. She will go very far in this industry I hope.

I dont understand how Sugandha got 7 from 2 judges when Bisakh and Sniti got 9s
Khurram ave singing got 7 as well..which is right...
Ali sher gets 8, 9 and 10 😲
Fareed got 9😲😲😲😲 How after killing Afreen Afreen which was not good IMHO...😲
Abhilasha got 9 1/2 and 10...
Ranjit got 8,9 & 10...Though I felt he really sang well and did deserve anything between 8-9...
So Sugandha must have sung the worst of the lot 😲 to get 7 from 2 judges 😭😭
I think marking me kuch fanda jaroor hai 👎🏼

^^^ Varshaji the judges plead temporary insanity and bias attack.

Of course I am not going gaga over her performance, but now that you have asked me to, I will demonstrate because I have proof to support my reasoning, unlike others.

Now, to prove one's classical ability, a singer need not sing a fully heavy classical song. A very heavy classical phrase executed well in a certain song is enough to prove the singer's strong classical base. Please take a look at this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MaivxhZAkJQ
Please fast forward to 2:53. Just look at how CLEANLY she has executed her akArs there. First of all, that phrase being in the higher octave of the song, it is very very difficult to execute it so perfectly. I am sure any singer would agree with me.
Again, she proves her classical abilities at 3:11. Just listen to how perfectly her notes have come out. In the midst of jumping notes, she has managed such a difficult phrase with much ease. Precise notes, perfect shruti, steady taal. What more do you need?
Can you say the same about Sugandha in any song? I have not listened to Sniti too much, so I don't want to comment on her. I believe she is a good singer though, at least in her genre of songs.

May I add, these phrases that Abhilasha has executed SO well, even Shankar Mahadevan has not been able to do so in the original recording. Please listen to it here and compare: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJxbAnYt4oc

Dear Dabulls23, I understand you find this humorous, but please do tell me where I am going wrong. Prove me wrong, please, if you can. I really want you to, because I also want to change my opinion about Sugandha, but as of now, I can't compromise with good music.

I avoided getting into this topic, could not resist it in the end😃

i heard both the videos.

Thanks for posting them

I am not as classically trained as you, but i do think some of your comments are over the top.

Hear abhilasha at 1: 53 onwards. she could not execute those lower notes, the words were not clear and crisp. and she was totally uncomfortable, waiting for it to finish.

compare SM at 1: 12 or 13 onwards, what clean clear, crisp notes and you could hear and see the ease when he took those notes. it was seamless and absolutely flawless.

I will stand in a heavy downpour and take a major raincheck on your comments about Shankar mahadevan😡

As far as my meagre knowledge goes, it is easier to reach the high notes, singers sab maar kha jaate hain low notes mein.😳

I have been hearing abhilasha since SVOI, she has lot of things going in her favour, her beautiful voice, her upper range, the sweetness, clarity.

In this song, she did mess up in the lower notes.

rest of the song, mere rongte khade hue👏

Just hearing SM with this song, brought tears to my eyes.👏👏
