The Great Sonu Nigam!

Back from the days nobody knew him. Well, after this album released people knew him. But great singing by Sonu Nigam. Excellent feel provided through the song. His singing ability was lacking compared to today, along with his range, but that's because today he has so much of it. But for a singer, what he had then was also very good.

Throughout the song, he had some great harkats, great voice control, and overall just very well sung. Just maybe some more maturity in his voice was needed, along with a higher range, that he is capable of today .But overall, good singing. And excellent feel.

this song speaks true to the title of the movie-bewafa sanam, picturised on krishan kumar, the track of this genre requires the all important feel and emotions to be expressed to take the story forward. And sonu takes it to the maximum. From the beginning to the end, the song reeks of feel and the feeling of betrayal and forgiveness that is portrayed throughout. It seems simple first, but is not that simple either.

For a novice that time, its a bloody good attempt, granted. Great voice quality, great sync and tremendous potential. But the track has two major drawbacks:

One, the singing overall is pretty flat. the lines get repetitive and sonu could have changed his scale of voice. it does tend to become mundane after listening to it at least twice. The tune, too seems very dated and convectional, though melodious, but not enough to save the track overall.

Second, the tempo. Again, flat. Voice modulation is there but does tend to appear slightly forced to make the maximum of the scale limitation. Of course, no scope for too much harkats (a good thing) but some variations and a slightly tighter feel cold have taken to this track to better heights.

Overall, its a very good attempt, but there are better songs in the competition. Could have been more polished in overall terms.

7/10.

In his early years and especially here, Sonu sounded too much like a Rafi clone. Sounding like Rafi is good, but sounding like a Rafi clone (Anwar, Shabbir Kumar, Mohd Aziz) is not. This 'mimicry' was a bit annoying...

He controlled his voice very well though, and expressed well.

Ahh Sonu! 😍 One of the best singers out there. I just love his voice.

Beautiful song, beautiful lyrics. ( I don't know what it is with me and sad songs)! 😆

He has so much feel and emotion in his voice which makes it so easy to connect with his voice. His higher notes were so crisp and sharp too! I really enjoyed his singing in this song. He sung the song so effortlessly. He was so close to perfect in sur and taal. He put in his heart and soul for the song which is what it required because it was a song with deep meaning. And Sonu ji put that emphasis in his voice.

Final Rating: 8/10

Never heard this song before. Nice song but Sonu was over-shadowed by Female singer.
