Jatin-Lalit eliminated from Challenge 2005
By: Tushar Joshi
December 1, 2005

Jatin-Lalit with shishya, Sharib
There will be no more Jatin Lalit in Zee's Challenge 2005, in the coming week. The music director jodi has been voted out of the show, following the elimination of their only contestaint, Sharib, from the contest.

Teachers bear the brunt

Explains the show's creative head, Gajendra Singh, "With the ouster of Sharib, the Dum gharana, represented by Jatin-Lalit, comes to an end. This format will continue in the coming weeks as well. As and when the contestants are eliminated, their mentors too will be voted out of the show."
With this development, the show now has just three gharanas left — Himesh Reshammiya's Rock gharana, Aadesh Shrivastava's Jai Ho and Ismail Durbar's Yalgaar gharana are the only three teams remaining.

Jatin-Lalit entered the final phase with just two contestants - Swananda (from UK) and Sharib (from Jaipur). In consecutive weeks, Jatin-Lalit have lost both their contenders, leaving them with no option but to bow out of the competition.

Adds Singh, "Elimination in the final rounds is solely on the basis of public voting. The mentors and judges have no say in these rounds. Whoever impresses the janta with their singing, is bound to stay back — others will have to leave."

Public decides

Commenting on the experience of being a part of Challenge, Jatin says, "The show started off as an unique concept to provide a platform to those who are genuinely talented and want to prove themselves.

During the process, I got to interact with lot of youngsters, who didn't make it to the final rounds, but were very talented. I think Sharib was a good singer, and should have stayed back; but in the end, it is the public who decides."

Celeb guests

In a move to spruce up the look of the show, the channel has been roping in celebrities to attend various rounds. In the past, Salman Khan, Koena Mitra and Gulshan Grover have made special appearances. This week's celeb guest is Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

I think it is time for people like me to say goodbye to this show & forum as well, besides the best part of the show is over.
JL's separation is an irrepairable loss to music.
His diehard fans will miss them a lot.
There won't be another Khamoshi & JJWS now...........
One of the members was comparing JL against AR Rehman, please don't mix apples with oranges, they both are two different format of classical musicians.
A R Rehman uses quite a lot of war themes (violin based),his music is in line with Illaiya Raja while JL have followed Pancham's suite.

Yes. JL's separation is a great loss. They gave us some beautiful music. They were the kings of melody. They had created a niche for themselves. I hope we still continue to hear some good music from each of them.

Why do people have to compare music directors? Each one has his own style. Why can't we just enjoy the music. Ooty and Shimla is different but each has its own unique beauty..

Absolutely true n Sinha , I have lost all respect and regard i had for this show. GAjendra was boasting just recently how his show is unique and critisized FG for choosing qazi as jodi no. 1. But what is he doing , he has also fallen into the trap of public voting. Everybody is interested only in making money, I thought gajendra was an exception ,but alas he is one of the same. They dont realize that by doing this they are hurting , and discouraging excellent singers like swananda and sharib. I hope they dont take it to heart and continue with their riyaz and excel in life. Saregamapa is not the be all and end all in life.

Yes, JL's separation is sad… They gave us some wonderful music in the 90s… but of late, their quality has deteriorated. It maybe because of whatever personal problems they have which is causing the split…

Looking to the future, maybe they'll get back to their previous glory, as individuals… we can always hope for the best 😃

There is no music director who has not seen a rough patch in career, Pancham also saw it in 80s, so did Kalyanji Anandji. JL also are going through the same.

OK, who is Jatin and Lalit of those two? I honestly have no clue. So from that picture above, is Lalit on the left and is he also the younger one of the 2 brothers?
