Wearing only one glove on one hand and holding his crotch with the other makes him a great singer?
Just because the West (read it as USA) does not understand our type of music (hindustani and karnataki) does not mean that we don not have better singers.
Why do we always like to kiss the ass of our "whiie masters"?

BTW, Pandit Ravi Shankar received 3 Grammy Awards and an Academy award nomination. Do you know who he is or do you need to Google him to find out more about him?

Yes, he was a great singer whether you or me or a couple of people on these message boards acknowledge that or not.
It doesn't matter to MJ or his legacy whether you or anybody else on these forums acknowledge that or not.
Paying tributes to a dead person who was a world renowned singer/dancer par excellence is not the same as kissing the ass of a "white master" (whatever the hell that means).
Rahi baat better singers ki - do you have any scientific means to establish who is better and who is not? Do you have any empirical evidence to suggest that the singer you back is better than a singer I back? If not, let the world decide who receives accolades and who doesn't. Who becomes the King and who doesn't.. No?
"do you have any scientific means to establish who is better and who is not? Do you have any empirical evidence to suggest "
Voice control, voice modulation, singing at different scales, different pitch, different rhythms are just a few scienticfic means.
Secondaly, I have every right to express my views "whether you like it or not!"
Thirdly what has MJ has to do in this Saregamapa forum? Antar is one of the administrators I believe, couldn't he creat a new forum?
And Yes ! We love to kiss white masters ass.
That's why singers like Rafi saab, Manna Dey, Talat Mehmood did not get due respects from our so called intellectuals.

What the crap does "your type of music" have to do with MJ's death? The topic was made as a tribute to the iconic figure who just passed away yesterday. If you can't contribute, the least you can do is stay away and let other's recall his great moments. Any reason why one feels the constant need to convince themselves that "their" kind of music is in fact far greater than Western music? Can we not appreciate one without bringing the other down?

I see! I didn't know the West (or is it only USA? Damn! I wish I know my geography better!) was trying to kiss Indians' asses when they were felicitating ARR or Satyajit Ray or Ravi Shankar or any other such luminary.

"ARR or Satyajit Ray or Ravi Shankar or any other such luminary."
How many films of Ray have you seen?
How many of Ravi Shankar's album have you bought or listened?
This is what I meant.
Just because USA has feliciteted these three so we also think these three are greatest in their respective fields.
Have you heard of Ritwik Ghatak or Adoor Gopalkrishnan?
How do you compare Bilayat Khan and Nikhil Banerjee with Ravi Shankar?
What about Salil Choudhury ?
And the list goes on...

Why do I get a deja-vu here. Reminds me of the Oscar controversy over ARR winning it for Jai ho. Couple of folks were running ARR down just for fun on that thread. Why do I feel one of them is here as well😉

Why didn't you ask me how many albums of Jackson did I buy? You assumed I bought all of them and seen/listened to all of them?
BTW, I don't post these many meesages. Today is a record for me.
The world is a much bigger place than India. To be known by so many people all across the world is not a joke. Go ahead and give it a try yourself. For all intents and purposes you are known to me as "just-for-fun". I am known to you as "Mister. K.". That's all we are. You must be known to, what, a hundred people? I am known to, what, 50 people? Nikhil Banerjee or Ritwik Ghatak are probably known to a couple of million people? MJ is much more famous (not infamous) than you could comprehend. And to be famous like that, when the competition is cut throat, is not a joke. But I said that already.
