Indradhanush, love the album as I am listening to the song and doing my work. Today we got the snow day, out side is snowing and icy so the music is making it a wonderful free day for me. Thanks again!

I request every one to listen to jhoote tere nain , this is an amazing song, despite swara doing movement in a zigzag fashion this sounds very smooth and over all effect is out of world, very very good song:

Isn't it pathetic?
When the songs are first composed in Bengali nobody bothers to listen to them. But when they are converted to hindi music (especially Bollywood songs) they become instant hits!
The poor bengali poets and singers don't even get a recognition!

This is simply because the Hindi/Bollywood music has a vast reach, any regional language will not have non regional takers. I had a long chat with Vishwas the anthologist being talked about in this article in the same kala Kendra being discussed, Gulzar sahab was sipping tea. Both Vishwas and Ankush had this opinion that RDB used Bengal as his research lab, he would bring an unconventional song or music into Bengali music and see the effect, if it was appreciated he would go ahead with the same tune in Hindi. Like the song jane do mujhe in Dil Padosi hai already appeared as jate dao in Bengali long back , many many examples like this, probably that will take another thread.

This is not limited to Bengal. When Ilayaraja recently had to give music for Cheeni Kum he used the songs of mandram vantha.

These are beautiful song. He has sung very well and more importantly captured the emotion
but the recording quality is rather poor as it was a live performance.
But I think Kishore's voice is a bit deeper and rougher.
Still I loved it and RFAK is one of my favourites.
