previous SRGMPs.....no comparison..

I agree. The quality of the singers has reduced considerably.

i guess we can have good all the time

Each year only 1-2 singers are as good as previous yr. Most singers are not.

Not only that even previous years singers singing has degrassed by alot. many may have stopped their riyaz being busy with stage and TV shows.

This yr no has captured my attention like Amanat or Raja did during C-07 and Nihira and Hemu did with C-05. Again I am not comparing any singers here.

I feel the same way. I understand that in order to get TRP that the contestants have to dress better than Shekhar did in the old days :); but to compromise on singing quality is really inexcusable. Worse than that, Pritam basically excusing/promoting? besura singing by saying that Protools will fix these mistakes in the studio. What does that mean for the integrity of the art itself? What about the tortured audience at shows.? The only hope for the art is if the parents and teachers don't let these kids let their 5 mins of fame go to their head. That's why I feel that singers like Hemachandra and Aneek and others have a chance of succeeding since their talent is guided by strict gurus and parents (in Hemanchandra's case -- one and the same).

Shocking to think that any singer would stop their riyaz unless in hospital (or in the case of Debu on India's Big Brother) as without riyaz and talim there is no chance of being a gerat singer.

Thanks God for youtube so that we can rewatch and compare those old performances.

I agree that this year, the standard of singing has gone down from last year. :( I do not have a fav singer this year either. But I don't think contestants from prev seasons have gone down or stopped riyaz. A few may have but I think those intent on carving a niche for themselves in Bollywood are doing their riyaz still (and improving.)
