NOTICE: India-Forums Servers Upgrade Soon

Hi Friends,

India Forums will soon be upgrading to BIGGER servers to meet the growing demand and to support our future expansion plans (lot of surprises 😊).

Well the following hardware has been ordered in one of the Premium datacenters "Data393" in USA where our servers are colocated and will be added to our current cluster of servers:

1 x Database Server:

- Supermicro SC813MTQ-520C 1U chassis - 4x hot-swap drive bays
- Supermicro X7DVL-E Dual Clovertown Xeon Serverboard
- Supermicro IPMI / KVM over IP Intelligent Management Card
- 2x Intel Clovertown E5345 QuadCore Xeon Processors
- 4096MB ECC Fully Buffered DDR2 RAM (16GIG max)
- 2x Seagate ES 250GIG SATAII Enterprise Class Hard Drives / 16MB cache (RAID1 O/S)
- 2x Seagate ES 250GIG SATAII Enterprise Class Hard Drives / 16MB cache (RAID1 data)
- Areca ARC-1110 4 port SATAII RAID controller

This means the database server alone will be running on a server with virtually 8 Xeon processors (2 x 4)

3 x Web Server: (load balanced)

- Supermicro SC811T-300 1U chassis - 2x hot-swap drive bays
- Supermicro PDSMi+ Serverboard
- Intel Pentium D 925 Dual Core 3.0Ghz / 800FSB / 2x 2MB cache Processor
- 1024MB ECC DDR2 RAM (8GIG max)
- 1x 160GIG SATAII / 8MB cache HD

Internal Networking:

Upgrading it to:
- 8 port unmanaged Linksys Gigabit switch.:

On our datacenter its the first server to go with Clovertown 2.33 Ghz Dual Xeon Quadcore processors. And its probably the first forum to move to the latest Dual Quadcore servers. After all its India-Forums.com - Addiction at its best!!! .

Migration Day

Sunday, 24 December 2006 at 4:30PM - 6:30 PM IST

We are trying to have it done with minimum downtime which will be due to database (which is now over 8.5 GB of text) migration and expecting that it would be done in around 2-3 hours. Any change will be posted on the forum.

We are also planning to merge http://forum.india-forums.com general discussion forums with http://www.india-forums.com into ONE site as its difficult for our members to maintain 2 profiles and then many do not register on multiple forums.

So lets get ready for some more exciting stuff coming our way in the new year only on India-Forums.com. Will keep you all updated.

hey what if we have two different ids on both forums
i know i have different id on other forum

That's why vijay is trying to merge 2 forums in to one so that problems may niot occur.

We will be archiving http://forum.india-forums.com and moving all its sections here. So .com id will be the one which you will be using after the merged forums.
