I have read many posts in the forum (from loyal viewers/members, who have so gracefully watched the serial and been a part of this forum from its conception) where I have routinely come across a popular phrase saying "We want the old Indu back"I became a fan of this show only over the past month or two and went back to watching all the episodes right from the beginning... having done that, I must say that my viewpoint begs to differ...
The old Indu was not as likeable the current Indu (well that is how the CVs probably wanted to project him) Bar the incident where he helps Sanchi get her scholarship, there is hardly anything he has done that could be deemed praise/noteworthy.
On retrospective, there were probably two instances -
One; his interaction with Roop and his irritation with her advances that showed the core of a decent man beneath the tough gunda exterior.
Another one; probably how he always carried himself around Veenaji & Tarachand - always showering them with oodles of respect, thus reflecting his homely values.
However; on the other hand, his daily routine consisted of providing his loyal but useless friends beer and food, idling on the charpoy, dreaming of Sanchi, behaving silly in front of his lady love, creating frivolous scenes & ruckus at the drop of a hat, Face-offs with Prabal that rarely provided any desired result other than a few punch dialogues, manhandling & disrespecting university teachers (useless teachers, but teachers nevertheless), punishing himself and driving himself to extreme depths of insanity in Sanchi's love, manhandling Mehek and Sanchi...basically, nearly behaving like the psychos of darr/anjam that we all love to hate. Ever since the 9th episode, he has been behaving this way; his demeanour steadily deteriorating over time!
It is only after he began to hate Sanchi that he has started thinking with his brains and not his heart. This Indu is a changed man! He has started analysing his actions before plunging forth to carry them out. His expressions and words have started depicting more composure and class. His impulse to display brute force has mellowed down.
True that he hasn't used reasoning to understand Sanchi properly yet, but that will only come over time. He doesn't want to harm her or her family, but punish her with sweet revenge. This Indu seems more elegant and yet appears more formidable. I hope they don't change him.
P.S. I am not advocating forced-marriages here...never in real life... this is all in good spirit and within the realms of dramatic licence...
