Is Ekta Kapoor star-struck?
TV stars react to the K-soap queen's latest quirk of matching kundalis with her actors

E kta Kapoor's penchant for the letter 'K' and how she consults her friend and tarot card reader Sunita Menon before launching shows is folklore. Her belief in numerology is primarily the reason why her serial titles are always grammatically challenged. And the latest is — if one goes by a recent news report — that Kapoor has started asking for her actors' kundalis to match with hers to check out their compatibility quotient. It is reported that only when the stars (those in the sky) bode well, does Kapoor go ahead and cast the 'stars' (the TV ones) in her serials. We asked a few TV actors, both who have worked in Balaji serials and otherwise, about what they think of it and would they part with their horoscopes for a role?
While some, like Swetta Keswani, feigned ignorance about the new 'kundali' phenomenon', there were some like Ram Kapoor who vehemently denied knowledge of any such demand. As for the lady herself, she chose to maintain a stoic silence to our repeated messages.
Here's what the stars think about Kapoor's kundali fixation Ram Kapoor "I don't think this is true at all. I have worked with Ekta on three projects over the past six years and neither have I ever been asked to submit my horoscope nor do I know of anyone else who has been asked to do so." Anuj Saxena "I think it s****! How can you live and work like this? And if one has to work for someone based on his or her kundali, I feel sorry for them and more so for the person doing this! One has to live life on one's own terms. Narayani Shastri "I don't know whether it is true or not but it's quite possible as Ekta is very superstitious.
And as far as me giving my horoscope is concerned…it really depends on my mood otherwise I don't have an ego problem. It's fine as long as that helps me in getting me a good role and sails my boat." Gurdip Kohli "I have heard people talking about this long time back but if this is really true, then I'll never encourage it." Smriti Iraani "I have never been asked for my horoscope and I don't have one, I don't know my time of birth and I have never even heard such a thing." Harsh Chaya "I'm not sure if this is true or not. I have never had any such experience and I'll not encourage it." Chhavi Hussein "These days, more and more people believe in horoscopes and numerology. It could be true. To each his own. Although I personally like to believe in myself rather than a horoscope, I don't mind giving my horoscope if somebody wants to offer me a role based on it, as I completely believe in myself, my talent and my luck." Manav Gohil I don't think I would be okay with giving my kundali. But Ekta's faith and respect for people who ask her to do so is praiseworthy. There are people who don't mind giving their kundalis and luck is an important aspect of the game but I won't go that far." Archana Puran Singh "I don't know if it's true or not but I will never ever give my horoscope to anybody for a role!" Tarun Khanna "It's Ekta's prerogative to ask for anything before she gives work to anybody. But I think it's talent and professionalism that should be given prime importance." Kanchi Kaul "I don't think it's true. I would never give my horoscope to anyone, definitely not for work."
