That's the story of Kabir Sharma today..
How how how,. How the mighty had fallen...
I never expected this from Kabir Sharma. I was convinced from yesterday episode that he had fallen, and fallen deeply, but this unprofessional behaviour? No, never in million years.. But yes when the mighty falls, it falls from root down..
Seems like nothing matters to him anymore, not his career, not his professional reputation, not the threat of arch rival and not even the risk to the channel he heads,.. But what an attitude even when his world is falling apart.. His not so steady walk into the domain he rules (much to the relief of his subjects), the bottles of perfume spray on his stinking mouth, gallons of drinking water, the demand for strong black coffee, and the number counting.. Such a confident and stoic behaviour even when it is obvious to everyone around that he is blind drunk. But to his credit, he did handle his job with aplomb until the moment he slipped. And what a slip it was. It was probably destiny which brought the couple from Ananya's last assignment to his studio for the interviews, he seems to have perked up hearing the guy singing Ananya's praises, but if not for this couple, maybe he might not have made that slip. And the expression on his face when he realised his slip, brilliant performance... Hats off... It was just a contrast to the cuteness we had seen while he was trying to revive himself. He did manage to recover his composure enough to finish it off, but the quiver in his voice said it all. Kabir Sharma is not in control, probably for the first time ever on his news desk.. All because of a chit of a girl..
Probably the most uncharacteristic of his behaviour was walking off after the news bulletin without giving a damn about the consequences of his blunder.. Is it the same Kabir Sharma who is a cut-throat opportunist, who would go any length to maintain his and his channel's supremacy? Just can't believe it, but this is power of love (and drinks ;))
And I don't think he was genuine when he said that love needs to be expressed, it looked like a sarcastic comment to me, but his comment about love being a responsibility is spoken with immense genuinity.
Yes, Ronnie saved the day for Kabir and KKN, now that Ronnie paid back his debt for saving Aanaya, guess their slates are clean. ;)
Manav at his usual best, he is one consistent character, always looking for opportunities to dethrone Kabir. And Khalid is another, his priority is always his channel, rightly so.. When you have a Editor-In-Chief who comes blind drunk to do his job, someone has to worry about the channel, isn't it?
I think Kabir purposely didn't enter Ananya's house, he could have gone there ahead of Ronnie if he wanted, probably he didn't want to go there in his inebriated state. And probably he just wanted to observe and inflict more pain on himself. Yes, he is a masochist..
The scene with Ananya's family with Ronnie was poignant, a beautiful moment in memory of a very much loved father and husband. But we just couldn't enjoy that moment when there is a soul suffering from seeing the same moment.. He wanted to be there where Ronnie was, but he doesn't have the emotional security to participate in that moment. A complex soul..
I don't begrudge Ananya's family this moment of peace and togetherness, they needed this closure. But Kabir is shattered, he can't take the look & touch of intimacy shared between Ronnie and Ananya. I don't think he feels possessive of Ananya or doubt her feelings towards Ronnie, or even that he has anything against Ronnie. He knows Ronnie loves Ananya, and he knows Ananya is very comfortable with Ronnie, but what is he in that equation? Does he matter to anyone? Not to anyone, but to the woman who means the world to him, who seems more important than the position he worked to reach for years.. He is conflicted and hurt. The FB is not about what Ronnie means to Ananya or what Ananya means to Ronnie, it is about what he think he doesn't mean to Ananya.
But what a tremendous transition in a day.. Kabir started with guilt and ended up in pain-inflicting love.
Precap : I am not making any comments without seeing the actual episode, but I think Ananya's immaturity in the matters of heart coming out.. She blurting out her not yet confirmed feelings seems like a perfect contrast to the stoic Kabir is who silently suffering. There is still some hope with the blushing and smiling Kabir, seems he is recovering, and not just physically. But will Ms, Kashyap's absence from hospital impact this recovery? Let's wait and watch...
