Historical Defects of Razia Sultan

  • First of all the character of Razia is written wrong by the writer. She was trained from her childhood and was brought up like a son. She would never go out like that though to reach Gazni and Razia was not some saint who for her verbal promise would ruin her father's prestige. They were no rajputs like pran jaye par vachan na jaye.😆 Razia acc to historical chronology should be 11 years old, playing with her brothers and cousins and doing sword fighting and stuff.Razia should have been shown more mature than what we are seeing in the show.
  • Yildiz, i don't know how to start. Everything is shown wrong about him.Yes he was self proclaimed shahon ke shah but he was a slave before. He had married his daughters to both Qutbuddin and Nasiruddin qubacha. By the way qubacha had married daughter of yildiz and SISTER of qutbuddin. He was independent sultan of Uch and later Multan. Yildiz used to proclaim suzerainty over Iltutmish which was not liked by him.He would never tolerate his interference in Delhi's matters. This was the reason he battled against him and later killed him in Badaun after publicly humiliating him. This event happened in 1216 C.E. Nasiruddin Qubacha taking advantage of their battle captured territories upto Lahore. Iltutmish waged battle against him later and forced him to submit. He offered for peace but when Iltutmish demanded unconditional surrender he desperately jumped into lower Indus and drowned himself. How come Multan became a suba of delhi with qubacha being alive?🤪
  • Altunia was a turkish amir with razia as his best friend. They used to play together in childhood though obviously there must had been restrictions due to shariat law.Altunia married her in 1240 C.E, Probably razia was 35 at that time.(If her birth year of 1205 is correct historically😕). And even if he was a slave which he was not , only a favorite slave could meet royal family and not ordinary ones. Though he was not a slave but a noble amir. And seeing this he was cousin of nasir, ruknu, bahram , razia and shazia.😆
  • Nasir ud din Mahmud as we all know was governor of oudh and malik us sharq so his dieing in the show so soon is beyond me. Atleast they should have shown his love story properly. Sudden death of his character is a major blow to history.
  • Ruknuddin was not cruel, he was a debauch, licentious person but he was generous and fun loving. He used to scatter gold among people while riding his elephant. It was shah turkan who was cruel and she took revenge from those who offended her in her youth. But she could never dare to kill Iltutmish. Iltutmish was a strong ruler and his nobles were afraid of him. His strength and capabilities has given him pride of being called the greatest sultan of slave dynasty. How come a petty maid can smuggle weapons in palace and harm royal family? This is illogical and silly. Hope they have shown something more smart and understandable.
  • Chanda and Martand were pure blunders. Turks were racist. They never recruited hindus in their army and more so at high positions. If chanda was a slave in palace, she would have been forcibly converted in Islam. Hindu slaves would never get respect in turkish palace.

lucy,
i agree with you totally on each discrepancy u pointed out.

itz only the last point, i want to say something contradictory.
yes, turkish sultans were racists, they converted as much as they could, desecrated hindu temples, massacred old buddhist universities. but as time passed they realized it was impossible to ignore the 95% of the population they ruled and also they could not convert all of them. esp the turkish sultans held special distaste for neo-converts. they always treated them with suspicion and never allowed them to rise.
they increased taxations upon hindus and during khalji dynasty the situation went so bad, that the wives and daughters of higher class hindu families were forced to work as attendants in royal harem to fend themselves. if things were so bad during khalji dynasty they were certainly not heavenly during iltutmish's reign.😆
Now, Chanda might be such kind of woman, daughter of a hindu noble, fallen in dire circumstances became razia's attendant and gradually her loyal friend.

You know firoz shah tughlaq forcefully converted villages after villages, the reason hindus could stay strong was due to fiery jats, rajputs and guzars. they fought to save dharma. proud of them and also later sikh gurus fought to save humanity. full respect.👏 it was not these rulers meharbani that we could save ourselves. now they are trying love jihad to convert us.😡well we should talk only about raziye sultan, these things are controversial and i don't want to enter in any futile senseless debate.

Now appointing Martand is, you can say, quite farfetched. although the hindu nobles, the rajputs were the previous rulers, they had to yield most of their powers to the newly formed ruling class. but then they represented the majority of population. even sultan mahmud was forced to recruit them in civil and military departments, and as time increased their numbers increased in all the branches of govt. but yes, high positions were seldom bestowed upon a hindu.
so, martand as a military commander is perhaps not such blunder as portraying Yaakuth as Aaltuniya.
