Actually, though its now a boring old internet website to buy music, Napster was the first ever Internet free download site. It was a "viral" app-, spreading underground all over the web. It was pretty unstoppable, until it broke every major piracy law--and led to new ones.


It got shut down, but it was hugely popular, a cult thing-but at the same time very anti-establishment and had a lot of cyber policing against it. The reason, of course was because the music people and the TV show people and the e-book people were freaking out by the free availability of news and entertainment to everyone, not just people with money. Also, free information is always a bad thing to people who control its flow.

I like to remember that time, when it was so hard, but so much fun to "get it free." Plus, knowledge is power, baisas! And, of course, theres the fact that I am a monster😵
