Today for the first time in the presence of another person, not even someone he thinks of as his own. Till now he hasn't even given her the right to question him, Rudra could not hide the acute fear that appeared on his face when Laila said she can hurt Paro. So far we have witnessed him shield his emotions effectively, so that the ruthless image effectively hides the soft. caring, side behind the facade.

Prior to that he was getting frustrated, exasperated with Laila's questioning...there was a moment of dawning realization too, when he understood how she has taken their r/ship... ..But the instant she mentioned something happening to Paro, the anger that darkened his face, the hoarse cry 'agar usse kuch...'..the sheer panic, frantic urgency and desperation with which he ran to her was Rudra at his vulnerable. And that reaction & action answered all of Laila's venom filled questions.

I loved the way he was still looking at the balcony when Laila was passed out in his arms.

The fear of his mother leaving him, shadows in his r/ship with Paro. Unwillingly she has touched a chord in him, way past the officer suspect equation. Any sense of loosing her drives him crazy.

And the scene from Rapunzel balcony😆...Maithli and samrat performing to RNBDJ... Rudra looks up, sees her all dazzling in her beauty...becomes mesmerized, lost for a few seconds... Was there a look off longing in those eyes for something more?

It was a good epi, the story, track moved since the celebrations have begun.

Thank you, Sofna, you are too kind. 😳😃 And I am delighted that you liked my post and deeply humbled by your appreciation. 🤗
@ Rudra's reaction: Yes he was unprepared and Laila caught him with his defences down. He couldn't hide his gut reaction. He just gave himself away with his counter-threat. Pity, because it confirmed Laila's fears that Paro mattered much more to him than any ordinary suspect would; than she, Laila, herself did. And it will fuel her revenge against PaRud.
@ Rudra frustrated with Laila's questioning: This was and has always been Rudra's mistake, his weakness - focusing on the one goal to the exclusion of all else, and it has always brought him down. When He focused on nabbing Tejawat during Paro's wedding, he completely discounted the collateral damage. He is still paying for that.
And now at the Sangeet, he couldn't be bothered to explain to Laila. He didn't have the time. His priority was Paro's security and she was under threat. So Laila became a distraction, a nuisance to be quelled, brushed aside, spurned. In all fairness to him, Paro was a matter of high-security and he ay not have wanted to reveal details of her situation. But he never realised that that one miscalculation with Laila would cost him.
@ Looking at the balcony while with Laila vs Rudra's Choice: I found the scene before that much more compelling. The fact that Rudra had to choose whether to stay with Laila or go to Paro. And he decided to stay with Laila. No, not for a moment do I think that this reflects who is closer to his heart. He knew what mischief Laila was capable of, and wanted to keep an eye on her. But, what then of his reaction when Laila was dancing around him. He was compelled, conscious enough not to look at Paro in the balcony for a while. And when Laila fainted, he decided to carry her to his room!! Carry a nautch girl to his room in front of assembled guests at his own Sangeet!! That's inappropriate to say the least. Yes it can be explained away as because he didn't want Kakisa to get information about Paro out of her. But there was also care. Which of course paled drastically before his concern for the missing Paro in the balcony.
@ Losing Paro: Agreed! Great point. Clap
@ Rudra looking up at Paro: His face definitely softened. And he was, as you say, mesmerised - he could have happily stayed looking at her for a while.

Beautiful post as always.
Laila's last gamble .. her last throw of the dice ... her threat to Paro ... should have had Rudra begging at her feet, telling her that Paro meant nothing to him, he was hers ... it was all a big mistake.

It backfired ... spectacularly.

Till then, he was trying to reason with her, placate her, roughly, it's true ... but he was with her, following her thoughts, even understanding her feelings in a way, and trying to tell her she had got it all wrong.
The moment she threatened Paro ... all bets were off. The only thought in his mind was Paro, her safety, to the exclusion of everything else ... he was out of there before she even knew it. Laila got her answer. Not Rudra's words but his actions.

A few things were proved in today episode.

I think it is official now without an inch of doubt for Rudra it is Paro now. He refers to her as such in his own thoughts, when he talks of her to someone else and final milestone reached today when he called out to her no teasing no pretence not a stranger he was calling his soul. He said Paro with such ownership, such care, such tenderness mingled with fear. I know she is Paro to few others but no one says it like Rudra does there is something in the tone of his voice he makes her name sound so beautiful it was definitely the most poignant moment in the show for me.

Rudra cares deeply for Paro. She is no longer just his witness. I wouldn't go so far as calling it love because that is going to take some more time. He definitely longs for her, he longs for what she represents, untainted unselfish purity that is untouched by the ugliness of this world, he connects with that part of paro that despite everything she is still so good yet he is battle beaten by this harsh life bearing scars but Paro is still untouched he wants to know how that feels how it feels to be good and whole again. I think he was pleased at some level that she was smiling and happy so he let her be. The staring session was done wonderfully, Rudra has such expressive eyes at that moment she was his he was hers time suspended for him. The moment he saw mausamsa reality hits him and he wants to make sure she is safe.

For whatever it is worth Rudra and Laila scene was well done and much needed for the story. Ok I have to tell this much to Rudra he has done what he did till now but going forward if he doesn't get it now that Laila is bonkers then he is a fool. So laila outburst should have proved to Rudra of Laila's delusional self, signs of which he should have seen before but I guess he didn't consider the consequences, now he knows the worst she could do is hurt the one person he is going to love more than his own life. That is human nature we continue on a certain path right or wrong even if it might be wrong if no one gets hurts why does it matter, but the moment we realize the wrong we have chosen is ready to destroy then we are forced to change. I hope Rudra changes I know he will fight his feelings for Paro tooth and nail but I hope he doesn't go to Laila to deal with his denial.

I keep harping on this Rudra just can't let Paro get hurt it is the one thought that overwhelms him ever since the first moment he met her. That is going to be the driving force of this wedding. When there are so many obstacles laila, thakur, mohini, Rudra himself, Paro herself, BSD protocol, his job, on going criminal case, the whole world seems stacked up against this wedding, but all you need in the end is one very powerful reason for things to swing the other way.

Thanks, Loveanime, for sharing your thoughts. 😊
@ Paro, not Parvati: Yes completely agree. I'd always hoped that he would call her Paro. Because Varun referred to her as Parvati, and because we refer to them as Rudra-Paro. So when he started calling her 'Parvati' in a mocking voice (I remember Aman called her that on the way to the haveli) it never quite worked for me. As I said elsewhere in the Forum, if she was Parvati to the world and Kakisa, then she had to be something else to him!
So you cannot imagine my joy when Parvati became Paro. First to irritate her, and now simply because he thinks of her that way. And yes completely agree, it was his heart, his hopes and fears in his voice that made her name so poignant.
@ Rudra's feelings for Paro: Hmmm, I'm pretty sure it's the initial stages of love, not that one can define love accurately. But what Rudra feels for her is way beyond an official relationship. He cares for her. He is attracted to her. As you said, he longs for some of her purity and to be whole again, which her serenity and healing can provide. And now he wants to see her happy. He may camouflage it all he likes, but to me he's already in love.
@ Rudra-Laila: He has been unforgivably self-centred, deriving from this relationship what he needed, but never dwelling on what she needed. In all fairness to him, Laila knew she had feelings for him, but allowed him to dictate the terms because that's the only way she could have what little of him she did. She most probably rationalised to herself that that was all he was capable of.
But now, seeing his reaction to Paro, she knows she's been short-changed, lied to. And it will be years of rejection (eg rejecting Laila's care for him when he was wounded) that will demand recompense. She will make him pay, although I'm guessing only as far as Paro is concerned. She'll stop short of hurting him irrevocably.
I'll be very surprised if Rudra goes to Laila for sex after this, unless he needs comforting if Paro does the unthinkable and runs away or after the court martial. Other than that, he may just go to Laila to warn her off or get info out of her.
@ Rudra's reason for marrying Paro: Agreed. Beautifully said!!

Thank you Malini. 😃 Delighted that you liked it.
I've always tried to stay unbiased, but it's impossible, I guess, to prevent my preferred pov from colouring my interpretation of the scenes. As far as Laila-Rudra go, I am willing to cut them both some slack. After all, matters like relationships can never really be clear-cut.

But your writing of her ... I can feel the coils of the serpent her in stomach, the bile in her condemnation... Loved the whole bit but the parts in blue ... You just painted her for me ... Can sense his dismissive impatience in you words ...

Why is he marrying her ? And Kakisa ... What's her problem ? I actually liked what you wrote about him nodding fiercely for her to leave the wedding celebrations ...
Sabs totally loving this ... Intriguing cliff hanger ... But more than likely, she may be around ? Maybe a scene just to underline his emotional involvement ... OR Maybe since I dunno much ... Maybe I should just keep quiet ... 😃 Thanks Sabs ... Loved your post ...

Poona, 🤗 You are too kind. As always it's the episode that does the hard work, and I shine in its reflected glory.
@ Laila: Spot on - hell hath no fury like a woman scorned - that's Laila now.
@ Why the wedding: Ostensibly as blackmail (but now it's all muddled because his emotions have crept in). Because he knows she couldn't bear to marry her husband's killer, the man who alienated her from her family, her village. So he's holding this threat over her head to get her to sign a confession that she, her village and the Thakur were guilty of gunrunning from across the border. That her wedding was a cover for gunrunning. And that she is complicit. But Paro is innocent, knows nothing of the gun-running and the Thakur's nefarious activities, and moreover had passed out when her groom was holding a gun to her head. So she has no reason to believe Rudra's version. And she won't sign. So he's trying to make her life difficult enough that she will break and give in.
@ Kakisa's problem: She was probably born that way - snarky, taunting, and making life impossible for everybody around her!!
But specifically, with Rudra, his father and Paro - well Rudra's dad owns the haveli and she wants it. She's been looking after the haveli these past 15 yrs when Rudra and his dad left it after Rudra's mother ran away. And now she's afraid they'll lay claim to it. So she wants them out. Having found out that Paro is the reason they came back, she's trying to eliminate Paro. Make her run away, and failing that, get her recognised by the Thakur's men who are searching for her. That way she can ensure the wedding doesn't take place and all three leave.
At the sangeet, she invited the entire town and visitors from passing towns in the hopes that somebody would identify Paro. That that would let her unveil Paro's truth in front of everybody. And get rid of her. She doesn't realise that Paro could be in mortal danger.
@ Where's Paro: Yup, I'm hoping she's around. And this, as you said, is the way to make Rudra acknowledge his feeling for her. And what better way then this shocking deprivation to bring out the truth. The problem was that the episode ended with the Thakur's man seeing Paro in her bedroom. Well seeing Paro's back, as she removed her bangles. In the last scene, Rudra opens the same bedroom door which is empty of both the Thakur's man and of Paro. Cliffhanger as you say!! Although, it could be that either Sunehri or Mythili went up to fetch Paro down for a ceremony. And she is safely downstairs. Hmmm...
And love your questions. They make me re-evaluate what I think of RR till date. So keep them coming. And thank you for sticking to this task, and visiting the Forum!! I do hope we are making it worth your while. 😃
