hey everyody,

i got the idea of posting this thread after purvi's thread abt the ramasetu😊.. i dont know how many of u know tis story..its about lord hanuman and arjuna-

once when arjuna was on a pilgrimage to all the holy places in India he arrived at Rameshwaram where the ramasetu was built. A monkey had followed him till there . ( it was none other than lord hanuman). Arjuna asked why rama did not build a bridge made of his arrows as he was a very great archer. Hanuman said tht if lord rama had done so then the bridge would have collapsed under the weight of the huge army of the vanaras. Arjuna gets a little annoyed and he challenges hanuman that if the bridge of arrows made by him collapses under a mere monkey's weight then he would jump into the fire. Hanuman agrees to the challenge. The first time arjuna makes the bridge , the minute hnuman steps on to the bridge , it collapses. Arjuna accepts defeat and makes a fire ready, but before he is about to jump, a brahmin comes there and tells him tht he annot jump into the fire as there was no witness to judge who won the argument. Then he tells arjuna to again prepare a bridge of arrows. This time when hanuman ( in a normal monkey's form) sets foot on the bridge nothing happens..Then hanuman assumes the form which he took to search for sita. Still , all in vain. Then lord vishnu takes his normal form ( he was the brahmin) and tells them tht he wanted to teach both hanuman and arjuna a lesson in humility because both of them were over-confident abt their powers. So since hanuman lost the argument lord vishnu told him to be present on the flag of arjuna's chariot during the kurukshetra war.

Hope you ppl liked the info. do reply😊

Great info Vaishnavi. I didn't knew this story abt Arjuna n Hanumaan

Its good to know that their r other text also which support the fact that Ramsetu was not a floating one but a bridge having a strong base. Bridge made up of arrows or floating stones cant tolerate a huge army.

There is also a story of Hanuman and Bheem, in which Bheem couldn't lift his tale. I'll type it up another time 😃
