Gurudev is sitting with his students when suddenly the cow Nandini is running towards two trees. She hits the trees in anger. Ram sees two rakshashas in the trees and he runs to get his bow. When he is about to strike the rakshashas flee into the sky and disappears.
Gurudev tells ram that Nandini saw what they could not see and for the sake of the Gurukul tried to kill the Rakshashas. Ram asks what they were doing there. Vashist answers that they must be the servants of king Ravan who wanted to know if they were performing a Yagna. Lakhsman asks Gurumata how Nandini knew that they were hiding in the trees. Gurumata answers that Nandini is the daughter of Kamadhenu. Kamadhenu appeared when the gods and deamons were churning the ocean. She ten narrates the story of Kamadhenu and Visvamitra (when he was a king):
Visvamitra once paid a visit to the hermitage of Vashist and was received and entertained with great hospitality. At the hermitage he saw the priceless Kamadhenu who had provided all the delightful things for the repast he had just enjoyed, and he was filled with covetousness for her. He offered Vashist all he owned for the cow but the offer was declined. He then attempted to take her away by force but Kamadhenu broke away from his grasp and magically conjured up warriors to defend herself and her master. Visvamitra tried to battle Vashist but he loses and eventually accepted his defeat. Gurudev then tells how Visvamitra became a Brahmarishi after that.
Suddenly a student screams that King Adiytanath want to take Nandini with him. Gurudev tells the king that he cannot take Nandini with him. The king answers that such a special cow belongs in his kingdom and not in an ashram. The Rajkumars tops the king and warns him. The king does not take them seriouslt and they start fighting, but Ram doens not wants to kill him. Vashist stops him and tells him that this was also a test.
