hi everyone,
I think old is gold. I didn't like the acting of the new cast. The devotion and dedication is missing in this serial. This serial will never repeat the history. Ramanand Sagar ji was a great devotee of lord vishnu.
He made the ramayan with lot of devotion. One can see the spirtuality in every dialogue and scene of the previous ramayan.
The actors he selected at that time were simply brilliant. In the new ramayan one can only see technical advancement but no acting skills.

I really liked the old Ramayan and this one is still quite new so not really sure of how it will turn out..but I don't like the main leads...I don't think the new Ram is all that goodlooking, plus for some reason he just doesn't seem suited to play Ram, there is something missing from his face, there is no spark, no grace and his face has this stern naughty look while the old Ram had a clamness in his face...like the true Sri Ram... even the new Sita doesn't seem to be all that.

I didn't get a good look at Laxman yet, King Dasrat seems ok in this one...but the 3 Rani's just look fake 😕

however the old Ramayan was a bit lowpaced, hoepfully this one will move at a faster pace...I am glad they are showing this again it's good for the new generation who have no clue about the history

I remember watching the old Ramanyan when I was really small and it was just fantastic. Everything about it was so real.

The latest one which is the new one seems quite nice but nothing compared to the old one.

I cant stand Mantra 😡

No, for me the old Ramayan is THE RAMAYAN. It was real. These technological advancements r not required. None of the present actors are impressive. I find Ram OK but not Sita. The costumes are OTT and presentation bad. Songs, shloks taken from Ramcharitmanas r good. New Ramayan means old ramayan+ something new..i've yet to see something new in this..the pace is exactly like the old ramayan ..diff. is tht the old one came once in a week n this one will come 4 times in a week..so i'm getting this feeling tht they rushing it up..i will definetly watch it to see what they've done..but new ramayan fails on the actors front.

I think that the reason why some of us find that the actors have failed, is because we are used to see the actors of the old Ramayan. We forget that they are actors and it is like they are the real persons. It is not fair to say that the actors failed, cause we have seen them for just four epis. I agree, the new Sita is different but we have to wait en see what they will make of it. Give it a chance. I think the new show is more realistic.

We have to wait and see them acting, we've only seen them in little bits on the TV, and we'll get used to them eventually.

People should stop comparing old to new. It only started a week ago. I like it so far.

Lets be positive about this...
I am a great fan of the old Ramayan and just recently bought the DVD set. Looking at it now - yes the sets bad, the costumes garrish, and zooming into faces a tad irritating. Yes the actors were superb. I find the new Ramayan well executed, and really beautiful to look at. The new Kaikeyi is certainly no comparison to Padma Khanna - but lets give her and the others a chance I - they will grow on us.

We also have to realise that we've got to "modernise" actors' looks for newer generations to identify with them. Hollywood has done this for some time. Sean Connery today would not be cast as James Bond today as he was 50 yrs ago.. at that time he embodied what was physically and culturally valued, but now audience would identify more with Pierce Brosnon or Daniel Craig. Even sword and sandal-type movies like Gladiator, Troy and 300 have changed what their hero's look like - a Charlton Heston wouldnt make it now - we demand slim n trim "modern-looking" heroes like Brad Pitt etc.

So i feel comments like - the new Ram is too thin , too young and looks naughty - are unfair. If new audiences demand a slimmer, muscular - waxed chest Ram - them give that. If Sita needs to be more curvacious and more assertive for modern girls to identify with then bring on Devina Bonnerji !

If we get the younger generation to subconciously identify with these great characters (albeit on a mundane physical level) , they may just start to consciously identify with and emulate their values ! Afterall, Even Tulsidas had to "modernise" the Ramayan for his time !
