This post is a reminder to all fanfiction authors (you are one if you write what we call FF, OS, SS, TS, etc.) and those who missed the announcement that our beta reading team is officially in action.
- Everyone who wishes to get their work beta-ed can PM the following ID:FF_writer
- Here are the guidelines that you need to follow. Please give them a read. ||Fan Fiction Beta Readers - Guidelines for Authors||
WHO IS A BETA READER?
A beta reader (shortened to beta; also pre-reader or critiquer) is a non-professional reader who reads a written work, generally fiction, with the intent of looking over the material to find and improve elements such as grammar and spelling, as well as suggestions to improve the story, its characters, or its setting. Beta reading is typically done before the story is released for public consumption.
Elements highlighted by beta readers encompass things such as plot holes, problems with continuity, characterisation, or believability.
Thank you for sharing your work with the members here! While you all are a doing great job, wouldn't you like to have a trustworthy (that is for you to decide *wink* ) second opinion on it? Wouldn't you want someone to proofread for you when you are unable to do it yourself due to whatever reasons? You can also ask them for advice or to focus on something particular that you're worried about.
DO YOU NEED A BETA READER?
Basically it's not about whether you need one. If you can use one, you should. 😉
How you write does not answer this question. Even published authors use editors.
The sole aim is to provide the readers a better experience and to improve your writing skills along the way, to whatever extent. You can always decide to stop.
We look forward to receiving requests soon! If you have any questions, please ask them right away!
Cheers
Beta Reading Team
