As the TM remarks later on (down the page), R came into the room while S is sleeping and admires her.

Anyone would be skeevied by this show of blatant ogling of one's spouse, no matter how 'love-filled' it is.
In fact, S herself would take umbrage at it, especially as she was sleeping.

I think they set it up so that ARI and R have this confrontation, since once married, R has come into their bedroom before without permission, too (The bangles.)

No its just my prediction I think sudden confrontation without any reason so I said like this
