This OS is not on the currnt track. It is just a Drabble on three points of view on Aahil's display in front of the lawyer. I wrote it earlier this week but only just completed it.
TRUE LIES - A SAHIL OS
Sanam could not beleive it! What a performance he had given in front of that lawyer?? Worthy of an Oscar. Standing ovation for the lies he had told. He didn't have to clarify to her in the room that it was all an act. She was not stupid enough to think Nawab Aahil Raza Imbrahim had fallen in love with her! "Miss Dhabewali", as he had called her, who later become his cook. No she was not that silly, to beleive his act. How dare he tell her to "not forget her place"?? She was not in the habit of forgetting her place or her limits! She was happy she had reminded Jallad Jin that she knew where she stood. It had been so insulting to be told not to forget her place. She didn't need the likes of Aahil Raza Ibrahim who didn't know the meaning of the word "limit" to preach to her about hers! She had seen in Punjab first hand what his limits were! His disgusting display with that girl on the side of the road?? That should have been enough to show her what his standards were? Then he had come to her dabha and misbehaved with her. Then he came back at night and set the place on fire, just because he had felt insulted?? So what should she do now? Set this house on fire coz SHE was feeling insulted?? Next time he said something to her she would remind him of HIS place!!
Having said all that though, she was still surprised. Aahil was a lot of things, but a liar and a pretender?? He had never come across that way. He always put everything forward in the open. She didn't think these sort of elaborate lies and displays were his sort of thing?? But then, didn't he put a magnate on a weighing scale to win a challenge against her?? So maybe this is an extension of that?? After all, he was prepared to marry Nida one minute and then said Qubool Hai to her the next minute...all so he can inherit his father's money?? What can you expect from his type?? Money obsessed with no heart?? Always handed everything on a silver plate. So of course he can't live without all that money his father left. Can never let it get away from him. So it dosent matter to him who he has to marry. He would say yes, just so he can finally inherit the lot! Then he has the gall to accuse her of wanting money?? Yes she had wanted money. She had needed it! To save her grandmother's life. That is why she had written away her own life, so Badi Ammi can have another chance at one. But how would a person like Aahil Raza Ibrahim ever understand that? He who probably throws thousands around like loose change?? How would HE know the value of hard earned money?? It was better to have no expectations for his type. Look at how he had reacted to the cake she left him? Acting like she committed some crime? What was her "motive" he had asked?? Do people have motives for giving someone a birthday cake?? Maybe in his world they did?? What a strange and complicated world he lives in. What a cold and hard world. As soft as his surroundings were, his existence was so cold and lifeless! No one from his family, not even his mother, his sisters or his close friend Rehan had wished him for his birthday? It was quite shocking actually. Despite herself, Sanam had felt bad. So she had put that cake in his room. But what was the thanks she got?? Nothing. Well she has learned now. She wont be doing him any favours from now on!! Enough.
But why had it hurt when he threw her out of his room? Why had it hurt when he had accused her of marrying him for money? For having a "purpose" in leaving a cake for him? Why had it hurt when he had told her to "not forget her place"?? It just did. She didn't know why. She didn't want to ask herself why it mattered. Will she like the answer? Something told her she wont. Anyway, it was all a lie. Whatever that was between them was a lie. That was the truth. The truth always hurts! No matter how much you lie!
Aahil had had enough. This charade that he had to do in front of the damned lawyer and any person that turned up at the house?? He felt like his life had turned into a three ring circus. The worst part about it is that he had to pretend like the truth was all lies! All true lies. He himself was forgetting which part was true and which part was lies! He heard himself talk of Mohobaat. Of how "Ishq Peh Koi zor Nahin Chaltha" etc. It sounded true to his own ears. Maybe because it IS true?? He had seen the way Rehaan was looking at him when he told all those things? He was declaring his love to Sanam openly in front of Rehan. The man he KNOWS is in love with her? And she with him?? Did she love Rehan? He had seen her paying attention to him befor they got married. Had seen her even looking at him apologetically right after their Nikha. But in the past few days, he had not seen her giving him any particular attention when he was around. Was that intentional? Did she not want him to know that she cared about Rehan? Did she think he was damned blind that he didn't know??
Why had she left that damned cake for him? To make a point? It can't possibly be that she actually cared about his birthday?? He had been rude to her about the cake! Maybe he should not have been. But what was he to do? He could not afford to put his guard down around her. He can't afford to fall for her again! He didn't have the luxury of thinking that his "wife" gave a damn about him. "I wont fall for her again...I can't", he thought. "She married me for money. She is no diffent from any other girl who had dollar signs in her eyes seeing me. To add insult to injury, she dosent even think of me as a catch. Only my money. She prefers Rehan and she despises me. How can I be such a fool? I can't let this take a hold over me now. Enough!"
Why had it hurt when she had said that she didn't want to be his wife, that she was waiting for their time together to end?? If he told the truth, that was the reason that he had thrown her out of his room. He had been ready to share it with her. But after what she said, he had not been able to bring himself to. The fact that their marriage was a lie was not a truth he had been able to deal with. In fact even now, he as unable to do so. Even when it was clear as day that she didn't return his feelings. The feelings that had plagued him from the night he had rescued her. The truth was he had been floored by her long before that night. But he had never wanted to admit to himself how drawn he was to her. When he had seen just her eyes and not recognised who was behind that mask?? Even in that moment, he had felt it. Then when he finally did see her? In the dim fire of his lighter? It was like lightning had struck him. His eyes had not been able to leave her face. It was HER. Miss Dhabewali. The only women who had made an impression on him. The fire had been lit long ago on that night in Punjab, when they had set each other's properties on fire. From that moment the fire had raged. Not just outside but in his heart. That was the truth. The truth always hurts. No matter how much you lie!
Enough... Rehan thought to himself. I can't keep torturing myself thinking of Aahil bhai with Sanam. I just can't keep looking at his bedroom door, no THEIR bedroom door, hoping that Sanam would just come out and not go back in again. Now to add to all that, that display that Aahil bhai had done in front of the lawyer? What on earth was that? He had almost bought it?? Of course it was all lies? Right? But then why had it sounded true?? What was that look in Aahil bhai's eyes that he had never seen before? That tone in his voice? He had seen Aahil bhai around many girls over the years. But never had he looked at any of them the way he had been looking at Sanam today. Was that all just lies? Was he that good an actor? He wasn't sure! Maybe that was the problem. He just could not feel ok about this anymore. Not that he ever had. But now it was worse. Becuase to him the lies Aahil bhai had told all sounded true! True lies!
Also, he had not known that Aahil bhai had met Sanam in Punjab? The way he narrated the story, it sounded like the most plausible thing. It sounded like they had this major history together. This great romance. It sounded like Aahil had a claim over Sanam a long time before he did! He met her first! But did that matter? It dosent mean he owns her. That he has a bigger right over her than he himself did? "Stop being a fool Rehan". The moment they both said Qubool hai, was the moment Aahil bhai's right over her became paramount. Above the right of anyone else. More than even Sanam's family. Today, he was the person with the most right over Sanam. HIS Sanam. But that was a lie too. A lie he had thought was true. But now the biggest lie was the biggest truth. Sanam belonged to Aahil, not to him. The truth hurts. No matter how much you lie!
I wanted to write something on the current track and will. But just thought since I have already written this, I will post it. Do please leave your comments, so I know how I did! Thanks.
