And Then There Were None

Today's show was basically a Tanveer solo performance, a Billo-logue if you will. We cannot expect anything better than this, with more than half of the characters missing in action: Badi Bee (taking a long nap under Razia's bed, perhaps?), Shireen (I wished they had showed her leaving with Ayaan after all, as that would have been a logical exit point for her), Ayan (still pacing the sidewalks of London, England), Rashid (back to Permanently Vegetative State?), Imran (seriously where is he? And are he and Najma not living in KV? Why not? Certainly it is big enough for all of them), Hasina's husband, Mubarak Qureshi (Does he really exist or is he just a figment of our collective imagination?) Nuzzat (appearing and disappearing at will and all of a sudden). Only the changing Wajid lends a sense of coherence and consistency to the show. Soon, with the characters either leaving or being eliminated, Billo and Wajid will be the only persons left standing at the end for an ovation.

The show can be easily renamed Zoya ka Continued Torture Qubool Hai. I thought that we were had exhausted the various forms of torture that Gul Maiya can think of for the likes of Razia Bee and Billo Rani to unleash on Zoya, but I was wrong. Let's see, we had an attempt at a live burial, we had a pushing of Zoya from a dangerous cliff, we had the near death episode with the green food coloring aka cyanide flowing dangerously close to Zoya's veins. We had near-death by fire, with Billo trying to explode gas cylinders, and Razia, re-enacting the Gudia Factory Fiasco with Zoya. We have had kidnappings galore, near death attempts by knife, gun, falling chandeliers, and every weapon imaginable. Today was an attempt best deemed as "near death by water," officially exhausting the use all the five elements in various murder attempts of Zoya. Either Zoya is extremely lucky to survive all these attempts or she is extremely unlucky to be the target to so many attempts to do away with her, depending upon which way you look at it. We do not know who is more blessed --Zoya with her resilience and optimisim that makes her emerge from these horrors relatively unscathed, or Billo and Razia with their unfazed perseverance to keep on scheming various forms of torture for Zoya, despite facing repeated and consecutive failures.

Nikhat is as nearly intolerable as the wildly flirtatious and scantily clad Khushboo as she was in the previous avatar of the simpering simpleton. She is playing a dangerous game in taking retribution into her own hands. It will not be long before things might start to backfire. Already Samira is suspicious, and this will cause her to dig into Khushboo's story, and possibly her past. In the Qureshi track, there are no answers to be had to certain questions no matter how hard one ponders: Why does Hasina spare Samira from her scheming ways that she subjected Nikhat and Najma to at the beginning of their marriage. Does Imran know that Farhan is married and Samira is very much alive? How long and in what manner will the evil trio scheme to hide the presence of Samira from Najma? If Samira is indeed Farhan's first wife, how come no one appears to be aware of her existence, or of the fact that Farhan is married?

Coming back to Zoya and Asad, whatever is going on between them should be between them. Why does the issue of consummating their marriage become a social fact to be advertized publicly in the form of a challenge, and why is it of anyone else's concern?

Humeira was always spoiled and allowed to have her way far too often. The seeds of insecurity, selfishness, jealousy, inability to share, and obsessive compulsiveness with regard to her closest relationships were always there to see, but boy does Haider bring out the worst in her. It will be interesting to see if Haider leaves her at the altar, and Ayan arrives in the nick of time for Mamu to beseech him marry Humeira instead. Now that would be a track that would be interesting. Or perhaps Haider will marry her and then take off as a form of continued torture and revenge.

Back to Billo and her five targets that she is going to either eliminate or have them dance on her fingers. Is the 5th one Rashid? If so, why? What has Rashid done to Billo? Why would she want to harm him? Or is he also a pawn of her mastermind?

@lfc2010 I totally agree. Also who is the 5th person that is going to be Billo's target, but has been kept a secret? Any ideas.

Excellent points
With half of the ORIGINAL cast missing the essence of QH has been lost atleast for me. I cannot continue watching one nonsensical after another (heck I even sat through Zoyaan track) without proper closure so stopped watching the show altogether. So don't have answers to any of your questions.

But excellent post.

Actually the main reason why things started to make no sense in QH is and will always be Tanveer. Since her entry into the show, logic has disappeared. Starting with the fact that Tanveer still has no back story. Her reasons for being so vile towards her own childhood friend's family have never been disclosed.

And now she's back again with her I-want-Asad chant. Makes no sense because at the start she was trying to blow up the whole house with the help of leaking gas cylinder, and it didn't matter to her whether Asad was in the house or not. Okay later she decided that pursuing Asad would make her rich instantly, I understand, she wanted money.

So all that blew up in her face and she didn't get Asad, so she married Gaffur. Now Gaffur is rich and she can wear her wonderful over-sized jewellery all day long, and I thought okay she's gotten all the money she wanted, good for her.

But no, now suddenly she's fatally attracted to Asad for absolutely no logical reason. Tanveer really ought to be locked up in a mental asylum. Her thought process makes no sense.

@ going green

Excellent points you have raised, especially about the lack of logic and Billo's past. Now her wanting Asad makes no sense, as you pointed out, she has everything, a father for the baby (if she is still pregnant, that is), money, name, etc. I think that the CVs are groping for tracks and/or a way to keep extending the show till they come up with some tracks that make sense. You say Tanveer should be locked up in an asylum. I fully agree. BUT, she WAS already locked up. Why o why did the creatives set her free?
