But in a sense, it is a display of power, on Haider's part especially. He's basically showing off to Gaffur and Razia that 'look I have so much power over your daughter that she willingly gave me her virginity (your honour).' Even when a manipulative person takes advantage of an idiot, it's still a display of power the manipulative person has. So in many ways, Haider's usage of sex as a tool of enacting revenge from Razia and Gaffur is all about power.
And the gender differences part will be illuminated when Haider reveals to the world that Humaira is not longer 'pure.' The entire point of the sex was to shame her and her family. And if it goes the way he originally intended, the Siddiques will be shamed because their daughter, a female, had premarital sex. Yet Haider, an equal participant, a male, will probably go scott free. He's taking advantages of the different societal viewpoints regarding each gender.
Sex is a very complicated tool that differs in the way people use it. I guess I'm just really sick of how televisions shows use it in such a bad light. It's supposed to be a good thing, I mean, its partly the reason why people on this Earth are still living (not extinct).
And that's why I can't really stomach this entire thing at all. Like you point out, yes it does happen in everyday real life, and that sickens me. I just hope that the CVs handle this issue well (rather than butchering it like Ekta always does).
