Yes but i have a pm account and still i dont get the half of the comments or likes and like my last update on asya ss i hardly got 40 likes but i sent more then +150 pm...is it my fault that the readers dont comment or like? No because i have holiday and i still try to update my every ff but if i dont get the comments then why should i update regularly and then i feel like wasting my free time on updating but still i would give recap when my readers demand it.

As a writer, I have a request for all readers...

please let the writer tell their story the way they have envisioned it. While suggestions are great, please don't keep pestering for just romance and tantalizing scenes. Yes, most of the stories are romantic but every writer (hopefully) weaves a story around romance.

Let the writers convey what they are trying to convey.

At least, I hate it when my readers are just interested in reading the lovey dovey parts and ignore the rest of the story. It really deflates the motivation to write.

exactly milli is right! and pari dear we do not write for readers! we write for ourselves! a writer writes because thats his passion, because that it's hobby because that is something which he loves doing! of course getting recognition and praise for something he/she has written is a writer's motive but it is not the sole and the only motive for writing! before i joined the forum i had written several stories i have been writing since i was 15! i have even written a short novella? has anyone other than me ever read it? No! but yet i wrote it and that is just because i love writing and i wouldn't stop it for anyone 😊

i am new at writing .i know i am not perfect but i expect response from readers.there are many views but comments are very few.
i dont expect everyone to like and praise me,but their suggestions can help me to rectify my mistakes..even a negative comment encourages at times...

Sooo true...my most of the stories are thriller or suspense but the reader just want romance but they forgot about the actuall story line and what it the most irritating thing is when i ask a question in the end of the update...then dont give damn about it...they just ignor the end totally

And this makes me really angry but i have also to say some of them are really vood and also answer the question.

I think, as writers, we should all just go strike. We shouldn't have to deal with posts like this, that attack our character and integrity.

I think that you have got it the wrong way around. It's not the writers who do not value the readers - it's actually demanding readers like you, who don't have any regard for the writer as a human being.

If you can appreciate a writer's work, then fine. If you want to provide constructive criticism, then that's acceptable too, but kindly, don't assume anything about our lives or our priorities.

Don't label us with terms like, undedicated or undetermined and don't assume that just because we don't have the time to finish our stories, that we're going to go on to become failures in life as well, because that's exactly what you're implying.

The reason that we're not publishing weekly/monthly is because some people actually have lives outside of the cyber reality. We're actually hard-working people who have responsibilities and are trying to achieve something in life. We don't sit around, glued to IF 24/7 waiting for updates, like desperate hounds. We're not whining and complaining about how people have abandoned their stories or don't leave sympathy notes to readers.

In your words, 'no offence', darling, but go get a reality check.

😳 I must admit I'm one of those writers that disappear into thin air... Then disappear again and become eid ka chand 😆. I love that expression!

But I think you have to sometimes put yourself in a writers shoes as well. Not updating frequently doesn't necessarily mean that the writer hasn't got an idea of the storyline and with the majority of writers it will probably mean that it's because they actually don't have the time.
And if I'm being honest, not all readers comment and when at the end of day a writer takes like 3 hours to type up, format and post up an update and then spend another half an hour sending out PMs and like 20 people comment, you really do feel bad.

I'm not saying that everyone is like that but there are a lot of readers that don't actually comment and as per suggestion, to actually go back and delete these said people from your buddy list is also time consuming.

And to top it all off, most writers actually write because they enjoy writing, the comments and likes is however what makes them update faster . It is what keeps the writer motivated to frequently update, not what motivates them to write in the first place. I've written so many stories over the years, most of which I've never finished because they are for myself to read. So if readers want frequent updates then they have to keep their side of the bargain.

I myself have begun to update frequently again but my occupation is not writing, when I first began to write FFs on IF I updated every week, if not twice a week, but as my workload in uni increased, my updating reduced and then nearer the exams it just seized altogether. Life really does get in the way sometimes, and as much as I can understand the frustration, I guess we're all still human.

I think this is what readers need to be more aware of here. Writing on IF is not our job, we have a lot more things to do in life, this is not what we prioritise.

As with regards to re-caps, although I don't include them in my writing, I do think that's a good idea. If I've not updated a story in months then I do do that.

I don't do pre-caps though. Most of my stories are thrillers and that would just spoil the fun of my never ending cliff-hangers.

No intentions of offending here, I'm just offering my point of view.
