Shah Rukh Khan's Chennai Expressbreaks all the records till date🄳

Mumbai, Aug 13 (TruthDive): Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer Chennai Express was released last Friday (August 9) on a grand scale in India and overseas. In just four days of run and Thursday night previews, the film has shattered many box office records not only in India but also in overseas markets.

In the paid preview shows held on Thursday night in India, Chennai Express collected Rs 6.75 cr, overtaking the record held by 3 Idiots, which had collected Rs 2.7 cr. Same time in UK, the movie collected 142,220 in Thursday night previews, setting a new record. It crossed the preview figures of My Name Is Khan, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, 3 Idiots and Ek Tha Tiger.

On the opening day, Chennai Express collected Rs. 33.12 cr in India, surpassing the record made by Ek Tha Tiger, which had opened at Rs. 32.93 cr. The film broke Shahrukh Khan's own earlier highest record, held by Ra.One at Rs. 18.5 crores.

Now, Chennai Express holds the record of highest Day 1 collections ever by a Bollywood movie. In UK too, the Shahrukh Khan starrer has collected 258,598 on Friday, making it the highest opening day for a Hindi movie in UK.

On the second day, Chennai Express collected Rs. 28.15 cr, the highest Day 2 collections ever for a Bollywood movie in India.

Chennai Express has earned Rs 100 crore at the box-office over the opening weekend becoming the fastest Rs 100-crore earner in the history of Indian cinema. The film has entered the elite 100 crore club in just 4 days in contrast to Salman Khan's movie Ek Tha Tiger, which entered the 100 crore club in 5 days.

Shattering many box office records, the movie is running to become the highest grosser of 2013, overtaking Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (190.03 crore) for the honour.

Chennai Express has three more days to rule the box office before it faces competition with Once Upon a Time in Mumbai Dobaara that releases on Thursday, August 15.
