Part 7

"It's 8.30 and she has yet not returned." Razia complained in a huff. She was trying to poison Shireen's mind so that she could be against Zoya, the growing fondness of her for Zoya did not go down well with Razia and it might act as a hindrance in her plan of removing her out of the house before she could find out about her abbu.

"Bhabhi Ayaan is there with her so we shouldn't worry. I'm sure the poor girl gets so bored at home." Shireen again took Zoya's side which infuriated Razia.

"Shireen how can you let any girl be with Ayaan at such a time?"

"What do you mean by that? What's wrong in sending Ayaan to fetch her? As you pointed out, it's very late and it's not safe for a girl to come back alone."

"Shireen Ayaan is going to get married soon so it's not nice for Zoya to be with Ayaan right?" Razia turned her back to Shireen and smirked. If Ayaan was going to act stubborn and not tell anyone about his wish to get married to Humaira then she was all too happy to do the needful for him. He had consumed a lot of time in telling everyone about the decision of marrying Humaira. Razia was growing impatient and she did not like to be kept waiting. Shireen was shocked at Razia's words. She kept her hand on her shoulder and made her face her.

"Oh ho bhabhi when did Ayaan decide to marry?" she asked her.

"Arrey Shireen Ayaan wants to marry Humaira. Humaira will feel so bad if Ayaan spends most of his time with that Zoya."

Shireen found it difficult to process the new found information. When did Ayaan decide to marry Humaira? Not that she mind but hadn't he made himself very clear that he had no intention of marrying Humaira? Then what was Razia saying.

"Ammi we are back and I'm hungry!" Ayaan said loudly as he came inside the living room. Zoya's eyes widened and she whispered into Ayaan's ears,

"Didn't you have dinner at phupi's place?"

"Yeah but that was hours back, I'm hungry again and my ammi's food is the best I can have it anytime anywhere." Ayaan praised his ammi and went to look for her.

Shireen decided to ask Ayaan himself whether what Razia was trying to say was correct but she felt a tug at her hand, she turned to see Razia shaking her head as if asking her to not reveal anything. Shireen was now getting increasingly confused with her attitude. Why wouldn't she want her to talk to Ayaan. She couldn't come up with any reason for her behavior.

"Ammi kab se bula raha hun, khana do." Ayaan stood in front of her and kept his hand on her shoulder bringing her out of her reverie.

"H-Haan, tum baitho." She replied in a daze and went inside the kitchen.

By the time Shireen and Razia laid the table everyone had settled on their seat on the dining table.

"Zoya beta why are you standing? You also come and sit, have dinner." Shireen called Zoya while Razia shot daggers at her.

"Actually phupi I had dinner at my friend's place and unlike some I'm not a hog." She said the last line under her breath and looked at Ayaan who had a knowing smirk on his face.

"Ok then at least you can sit here quietly right? It's the rule of the house to eat the dinner together." Razia said and the subtle hint of contempt didn't go unnoticed by either Zoya or any other member of the family. Zoya nodded and began to take a place on the empty seat beside Ayaan but Razia stopped her again.

"Not there, that is humaira's place."

Zoya stood up and went to sit beside Shireen. Razia's behavior towards her was slowly strengthening her doubt of whether she was talking about her on the phone. Ayaan stiffened as he heard humaira's name and squirmed on his seat. Humaira came and took her place beside Ayaan, he however turned his head away from her and scooted away. Humaira was a little hurt with that action but she masked it quiet well. Ayaan's latest behavior towards her was hurting her and all she wanted to do was ask him what mistake had she committed. Ayaan felt bad to behave like that with Humaira who was his best friend ever since they were kids but he couldn't help take out all his frustration of Razia over her. He knew she was not at fault yet he couldn't stop himself from getting mad at her.

"Ayaan just see what is wrong with my phone, I'm trying to call on this number but I can't." Razia pushed her mobile right in front of his eyes and his eyes widened at the name which was flashing on the screen. Firoz', the spoon in his hand stopped midway and he didn't know how to react. The usual irritation was back again and he kept the spoon back on the plate.

"Arrey aunty show me I will fix it easily." Zoya stretched her hand and asked for her phone. Razia closed her eyes in irritation.

"N-No, Ayaan will fix it."

"But aunty Ayaan is eating and I'm free, give the phone to me and I will fix it. Trust me I can fix it even by using my left hand. There's nothing that Zoya Farooqui can't fix."

"Yes bhabhi, why are you disturbing Ayaan, if Zoya is saying she can fix it then let her." Shireen sided with Zoya.

"W-W-Woh..."

Ayaan had had enough of Razia's blackmailing, he stood up, pushing the chair back as he did and stomped his way upstairs. Everyone stared at his retreating back with bewildered expressions while Humaira's eyes welled up. She too stood up silently and went in her room.

"Oh ho, ab in dono ko kya hua? Khana kyun adhura chod diya? Abhi toh Ayaan chilla raha tha khana do." Shireen asked to no one in particular.

Humaira was sitting on her bed, crying silently, obviously hurt at Ayaan's indifferent attitude. She was sure he left the table because of her. Even that thought brought fresh tears in her eyes. She felt a hand on her shoulder and she turned to see Zoya standing there with a plate of food in her hand.

"Baaji I don't want to eat." She said and turned away. Zoya lovingly ran her hand on Humaira's head and replied,

"I know because of Ayaan right? Humaira don't blame yourself for his careless attitude. I know you will not eat until Ayaan has eaten, here take this plate to him. He is sitting on the terrace.

"No baaji now is not a good time. Whenever Ayaan gets angry it's best to let him be. He doesn't like being interrupted or else he may lash out at whoever is in front of him." Humaira explained to Zoya. Zoya rolled her eyes and muttered "Typical" under her breath. She always thought whether there was any similar trait between both the brothers and today she got the answer. Both had some temper but having stayed with Asad for so long she had become an ace in handling it quiet well and so she decided to give some of her knowledge on "How to handle the Khan men" to Humaira. She sat down beside Humaira and began,

"Ok now listen carefully to what I'm saying and learn whatever I am telling you, you may find it very helpful in the long run."

Humaira not quite understanding Zoya simply nodded her head and asked Zoya to continue.

"I agree his temper may go sky high at times but you should never leave him alone, in anger he may simply end up hurting himself. When he says leave me alone', do not leave him alone because he is after all human and even he would love it if there was someone with whom he can share his fears, his problems. He may feel very light after having a good talk. But let me warn you he will never tell you this himself, it you who will have to pick up the subtle signs that will tell you that yes he did actually felt better. Yes, he may get angry at you initially for coming after him but don't let that sadden you, it is just a defense mechanism, he just wants you to leave so that he can't hurt you. He may sometimes say things which are very rude and mean but those words just leave his mouth due to his anger, he doesn't mean them and he will surely regret it the minute those words leave his mouth. He may also have trouble apologizing but that doesn't mean he is not sorry, he is just too emotionally challenged to do that and not to forget his big ego which will never let him admit his mistakes."

Humaira simply stared at Zoya as she went on and on.

"Baaji, how do you know Ayaan so well? Ya'll only just met right?" she asked, fearing she might hear something she doesn't want to.

"I may not know Ayaan properly but I do know someone who is just like him when it comes to anger and handling sensitive issues." Zoya smiled unknowingly thinking about the only person who was on her mind the whole time she was talking to Humaira. Asad, she couldn't help think about him as she talked.

Humaira looked at Zoya blushing slightly.

"Allah Miyan, you like someone." She squealed.

"What? Good God, NO! I just said I know someone like him I didn't say I like Asad." Zoya bit her tongue as soon as she said that. She needed to be more careful.

"But I never took any name. Aha, you do like this Asad. Oh wait, did you just say Asad? You know Ayaan has a brother and coincidently his name is Asad as well."

"Humaira he is not the only Asad in town right? And I don't like him." She faked a laugh. It's a good thing Humaira was innocent enough to buy her excuse. She looked at the plate of food in her hand and thought of it as a great distraction.

"Now if you don't want to feed Ayaan cold food you will take this plate and go upstairs right away." She gave the food to Humaira and led her outside her room.

"And remember the things I've taught you, don't get afraid if he gets angry, handle the situation with care."

Humaira nodded and she watched her go up the stairs and towards the terrace. Meanwhile she went towards Razia's room, her behavior towards Zoya was kind of suspicious especially after she heard her phone conversation and she was very sure the reason for Ayaan leaving the dining table abruptly was not Humaira. Asad's warning was ringing in the back of her mind somewhere but she chose to ignore it.

A/N - Geez when was the last time I updated it? It was ages back I know and I'm sorry! I was supposed to update 3 other OS of mine but I thought I should give an update of this first! This story will get over in two parts.
