I don't think I understand why Asad is doing this

He's deliberately ignoring her - its not like he didn't hear the noise she made with the cutlery or her coughing or the noise when she drops the iPad ...he knows its her but he is deliberately trying to ignore her and be nasty to her...why so soon after he was apologetic for having missed her?
