Chapter 2:

After a week:

Asad and Zoya's marriage date came near. Asad tried a lot of time to speak to his would-be-bride but it was not getting possible for him to do so. When he decides he will talk to her either his own work comes in between or Zoya is not present at that time.

Asad sat on his chair in his cabin and looked at the time. It was 3:45 pm. His Ammi wanted him to drop Najma for shopping. She had said him that Zoya and her best friend, Maha, will be accompanying Najma. Najma insisted Zoya to come and Zoya being the chirpy girl accepted it gladly. Asad sighed and taking out his cell he phoned Najma.

"Assalam walaikum Bhaijaan", Said Najma from the other side. "Wa alaikum assalam" Asad replied and hesitated for a minute. "Ummm Tamatar woh'.."

"Bhaijaan kya hua? Aap kuch kehna chaahte hain?" Questioned Najma and Asad sighed again. After a minute he spoke, "Tum ready ho jao. Main aadhe ghante mein aa raha hoon phir main tumhe drop kar dunga".

Najma had a bright smile on her face listening to this. "Theek hai, Allah Hafiz Bhaijaan". "Khuda Hafiz", he said and disconnected the call.

He thought for another minute and then got up from his place and left the office.

Outside Khan Mansion:

"Najma dhyaan rahe ki Zoya koi galti na kar de", Said Dilshaad in a caring voice as she knew her son's anger well. Najma nodded and smiled. Asad's car stopped in front of them. Najma said "Khuda Hafiz" to her Ammi and sat in the car. Asad looked at his Ammi who smiled at him. Smiling back, he drove the car towards Zoya's house as per the address Najma wrote on a piece of paper after consulting Zoya on the phone.

Asad stopped his car in front of Anwar's house. Najma phoned Zoya and said her to come down. After a minute or two, Zoya and Maha came down. Asad looked at them though the window. His eyes widened as he saw Zoya. He quickly turned to Najma.

"Yeh mohtarma Zoya hai?" He asked his sister who looked where he was pointing and smiled seeing Zoya and Maha coming towards the car. "Jo black dress mein hai woh Zoya hai", She answered and Asad looked shocked.

Meanwhile Zoya and Maha came towards them. Asad got out of the car and opened the door for them. Both the girls sat inside and greeted Najma. Asad sat back on the driver's seat and started driving.

"Talk to him na", Maha whispered to Zoya who was busy admiring Asad from the rear view mirror. "He's busy driving. I'll talk later". Zoya replied and smiled as she saw Asad stealing a glance of her.

Zoya, Najma and Maha roamed inside the mall while Asad still didn't return from the parking lot.

"Najma, ummm where's your Bhaijaan?" Zoya asked Najma who was watching some anarkali dresses keenly. "Kya baat hai bhabhi! You're missing Bhaijaan shayad", Najma teased Zoya who smiled at her. "Rukiye main unhe call karti hoon", Najma continued and walked away from them with her cell.

After a while, Asad came to them and took Najma to a corner.

"Najma, Ammi ne mujhe yahan tum logon ko drop karne kaha tha ab I've some work and I've to go", He said and Najma looked sad, "Par Bhaijaan, bhabhi ka kya?" Asad looked at her trying to understand what she meant. "She isn't your bhabhi yet", he replied and Najma made a face. "Theek hai Bhaijaan, aap jaiye", she said and Asad nodded. "Call me once when you guys are about to finish your shopping". Najma nodded and Asad left after looking at Zoya once.

"Allah Miyaan what's wrong with him? He's so unromantic", Zoya said getting a bit frustrated while Najma and Maha giggled at her words.

"Bhabhi, Bhaijaan aise hi hain. Aur waise bhi Nikaah ke pehle aap dono ka milna aur saath ghoomna jaayaz nahi hai", Najma said and Zoya looked at Maha dejectedly.

"Come on Zoya! You've your whole life to stare and romance with Asad jeeju", Maha teased her, trying to lighten up her mood. Zoya smiled a little.

"Acche se smile kijiye bhabhi, mujhe aapke dimples dekh kar accha lagta hai", Najma said and Zoya smiled completely.

"Jeeju ki bhi toh dimpled smile hai", Maha said and Najma agreed, "Haan aur bhabhi ko bhi dimples padte hain smile karte waqt. Masha Allah! Kya connection hai!" Najma replied in a teasing tone and Zoya looked away trying to hide her shy smile.

"Ayaan woh ladki se main pehle mill chuka hoon. Khuda jaane main kaise samjhaunga usse", Asad said to his younger step-brother, Ayaan.

"Arre Bhaijaan agar aapki usse ladaayi hui thi uss din'.." Ayaan said but was cut in by Asad. "Ladaayi nahi hui thi bas thodi si behas (Argument) ho gayyi thi" Asad said while playing with his fingers.

"Jo bhi ho Bhaijaan, uske baad bhi agar haan kaha hai usne toh matlab usse koi pareshaani nahi hai aapse", Ayaan replied, trying to reason.

"Baat toh sahi hai Ayaan", Asad said thinking about it while Ayaan smiled.

"Waise Bhaijaan bhabhijaan ki tasveer toh dikhaiye", Ayaan said naughtily and Asad smiled at him.

"Beta, nautanki band karo. Tumhe lagta hai mere paas Zoya ki tasveer hogi?" Asad said. "Ooo!! Toh bhabhijaan ka naam Zoya hai! Waah Bhaijaan! Bada hi pyaara naam hai" Ayaan teased him again and Asad slapped him on his head while shaking his head.

After sometime, Asad and Ayaan were still talking when Asad's cell buzzed. He saw an unknown number flashing on his screen. Thinking who it will be he answered the call "Hello" He said, "Yeh lo Najma", He heard someone saying and then after a minute he heard Najma's voice "Assalamwalaikum Bhaijaan" she said. "Wa alaikum assalam Tamatar, yeh kiska number hai aur pehle kiski aawaaz aa rahi thi?" He asked her somewhat having surety that it was Zoya's voice.

"Woh Zoya bhabhi ki aawaaz thi aur yeh unhi ka number hai. Woh kya hai na Bhaijaan mera cell switch off ho gaya hai low battery ki wajah se isliye bhabhi ke cell se aapko call karna pada" Najma explained.

"Ok toh ho gayyi shopping?" He questioned. "Haan Bhaijaan almost ho gayyi hai. Aap aa jaiye." She said and Asad heard someone shouting behind. "Theek hai aur yeh Zoya kyun chilla rahi hain?" He asked with curiosity.

"Kuch nahi woh Maha aapi unhe sata rahi hain isliye" Najma said giggling a bit. Asad made a face "Waise rakho phone main aa raha hoon, Khuda Hafiz" "Khuda Hafiz" Najma disconnected the call.

Asad bade Ayaan goodbye and left for mall while Ayaan went back to his home.

"Itne saare bags?" Asad looked at the three girls, perplexed. "Nikaah ke liye shopping hai na jeeju", Maha spoke to him for the first time. Damn! She was nervous.

Asad didn't bother to reply and took the bags from them and went towards the car. Meanwhile the girls settle in the car. Asad came back and started driving the car. On the way Zoya dozed off on Maha's shoulder. Najma too slept and Maha was half awakened. Mahn! Shopping is hell tiring! Asad looked at the three girls while thinking how they can shop so much.

"Zoyaaa!!" Maha screamed in Zoya's ear and Zoya opened her eyes with a jerk. Asad and Najma looked at both of them with a shocked expression.

"Allah Miyaan what's wrong with you?" Zoya asked Maha angrily and rubbed her eyes cutely.

"Bhabhi are you okay?" Najma asked and Zoya nodded. She stepped out of the car and looked at Asad who was busy staring at the road. "Allah Hafiz" She said loudly and Najma replied with a smile. She looked at Asad as he waited for her to move away so that he can drive back home.

"Bhaijaan, Allah Hafiz toh keh dijiye". Najma whispered while Asad looked at her with a I-don't-care- look but then looking at Zoya he said "Khuda Hafiz". Zoya smiled lightly & stepped back.

Asad sped the car towards his mansion as he saw Zoya and Maha walking in their house.

The day of Nikaah:

The moulvi sahib asked the dulha "Kya aapko Zoya Farooqui wald Raza Siddique Qubool Hai?" Asad looked at his Ammi first and then at Zoya whose face was covered with veil. "Qubool Hai, Qubool Hai, Qubool Hai" Asad replied and closed his eyes. "Zoya Farooqui, kya aapko Asad Ahmed Khan wald Rashid Ahmed Khan Qubool Hai?". Zoya smiled as finally she will be his wife, "Qubool Hai, Qubool Hai, Qubool Hai" She said and all smiled happily.

After that everyone had sweets and now the dulha & dulhan were on stage. Guests and relatives were congratulating them. "Allah Miyaan I'm so tired!" Asad heard Zoya saying slowly, he looked at her for a second; her face was still covered with veil. "Najma" He called Najma up on the stage. "Jee Bhaijaan" Najma said bending towards his chair. "I guess your bhabhi needs you" He said hesitatingly while Najma was confused. She walked to Zoya and talked to her and when she was sure that Zoya was fine, she said Asad about it and sat next to Maha who was sitting on the extra couches kept on the stage.

Asad grew stiff as he saw Raashid Amhed Khan and his family arriving at the venue. He fisted his palms in order to control his anger. Najma looked at him. Ayaan climbed the stage and hugged Asad, who smiled. "Nikaah Mubarak ho Asad Bhaijaan" He said and Asad replied, "Shukriya". Ayaan pointed towards Zoya. Asad sat back on his chair and said while taking a deep breath "Yeh Ayaan hai, mera chota bhai" Zoya nodded and Ayaan smiled "Nikaah Mubarak ho Bhabhijaan" Zoya too replied "Shukriya". After that Raashid and Shirin came to them. Somehow Asad controlled his anger as he saw his Ammi gesturing him to calm down. Shirin blessed Zoya and complemented her looks as she saw her face, lifting her veil a bit.

After all that, Zoya's bidaai took place and she cried a lot. She won't be able to meet her Aapi and Jeeju soon as they were shifting back to New York day after tomorrow.

Khan Mansion:

Asad sat on the couch after removing his sehra. He ran his hand through his soft & silky jet black hair. He saw Najma coming down to him "Bhaijaan aap room mein jaa sakte hain" She said and he nodded and looked at his Ammi.

"Asad beta please apna control mat khona aur Zoya ke saath narmi se pesh aana. Maine usse sab kuch bata diya hai beta, please be calm"

Asad nodded and greeting his Ammi and Najma, he went to his room.

Zoya stopped blabbering as she heard the door being opened. She sat straight and Asad came inside while bolting the door. He sat on the either side of the bed and thought how to start a conversation.

"Zoya main aapse kuch zaroori baat karna chaahta hoon", he said finally. He saw her nodding her head. Freak! Now he was frustrated with that veil of hers. He walked to her side and her heartbeat increased. He lifted her veil and looked at her gorgeous face. Her eyelashes were down and a shy smile adorned her face. Asad walked back to his place.

"Aapko Ammi ne mere bhai, Ayaan aur uski family ke baare mein bataaya hai. Hai na?" He looked at her "Jee" She spoke to him for the very first time and it felt good to her. "Main aapko yeh bolna chaahta hoon ki pata nahi mujhe' mujhe" He hesitated and Zoya looked at him.

"Aapko itna hesitate karne ki zarurat nahi hai, Asad. Main samajhti hoon aap par kya beeti hoogi jab aapke Abbu, aapko, Ammi ko aur Najma ko chod kar chale gayye the" Zoya said and Asad looked at her, as she said all this with care in her voice. "Main aapka dard acche se samajh sakti hoon. (She smiled faintly) Maine toh apne Abbu aur Ammi, dono ko kho diya hai na". Asad just kept on staring at her as he saw her eyes getting wet and soon her tears rolling down on her cheeks. "Mujhe yeh bhi pata hai ki aapka yeh gussa aur saari aadatein ussi wajah se hain. Aur mujhe isse koi pareshaani nahi hai"

She wiped her tears and looked at him, as he tried to say something. "Jaanti hoon Asad, shayad aapko time lage to accept me and love me but trust me, I will wait" She smiled showing him her dimples. He was not in a state to reply so he just stared at her. Both were having a beautiful eye lock when Asad said "Kyun?" Now Zoya was confused with this, what does this "Kyun" meant. She looked at him with her brows up. Asad looked down "Kyun wait karengi aap? Aapko toh mujhpar naaraaz hona chahiye tha?" Zoya smiled, "Asad, yeh aapko tab samjhega jab aap bhi kisise pyaar karne lagenge". She replied and looked at him for a minute. As she saw his shocked and confused face, she smiled and lay on the bed. "Shabba Khair" She whispered and closed her eyes. Asad was still sitting at his place with shock written over his face.
