"Main Zoya ko aise marne nahiin doonga."
Asad , a man who has dormant feelings for Zoe. A man caught in a situation where there was that fragile lifeless Zoe on one side and a gang of evil men with swords and guns. A man being pulled into the archaic lectures of honour by his weakling Maamu but his heart and his eyes racing back to the woman he was being told to leave behind. A plethora of feelings in him - of right , of wrong , of confusion, of fear, of respect to community ; of hatred and disgust of having Dilaawar as his Maamu, of guilt and hurt that he didn't trust Zoe...Of being granted life in barter of Zoe's life...
Slowly, but intensely , harshly , it hit Asad that his Maamu , the archaic laws could go to hell. There was no way he was getting on that bus to Bhopal, not without Zoe. So, the man turned on his heels and ran back to the honour graveyard to find Zoe - to keep her alive like he had done till date. All the anger , all the complaints , all the irritation and frustration over his Miss.Hoity Toity's actions evaporated as every nerve in his body magnified to an insane realization that he was not going anywhere without her. If he goes, she will go with him and ALIVE.
Asad is not a man madly in love , his feelings for Zoe are like a see-saw; playing hide and seek but always there. So, the way that anxiety and horror of losing Zoe to an earthy grave hits him is a good example of realism to his character. And how one would react in the given situation and that kind of relationship.
I don't know if anyone here has seen 'Arjun Pandit' here - a Bollywood film. In the last scene of the film, Sunny Deol . all set to be killed by goons tells Juhi to run for her life. Juhi, who is undecided about her feelings for him, goes away. But just like it happened with Asad today, the realization slowly hits her that she doesn't want a life that doesn't have Arjun in it , and every nerve of her body compels her to run back. And she does, doing a complete u-turn and running back to save him and be with him. Asad was on the same crossroads today but he chose to listen to his heart and humanity.
Asad doing a maha-fight sequence and saving Zoe would have been REGULAR and HEROIC . But Asad being human, undergoing a human inner turmoil and slowly coming to a reckoning in that moment of weakness is realistic and closer to life. The realization and the sail of various emotions that we got on Asad today would have never happened. Asad being haunted by Zoe's words , her flashes and his eyes stinging with tears and turning back to Zoe again and again wouldn't have happened. Above all, Asad's ' Main Zoya ko aise marne nahiin doonga' wouldn't have had that impact.
Today, Asad was NOT a hero. He was human and his vulnerability had 10 times more impact than his 10 punches.
So, when you see Asad hunt for Zoe like a madman in the last scene , you know where is that coming from. Right from the moment in the jungle, when Zoe collapsed , Asad's heart had plunged towards her and it kept plunging , tears kept finding their way to his eyes, until he ran back to her.
Asad may or may not be in love with Zoe. He may never want to face it , but he cannot be detached from her. Ever.As for Zoe, she is destined to cry - both in Asad's love and Asad's pseudo-hatred.
Great impacts in today's episode but very crappy editing towards the end. 😆
