She could not let this happen. The house, the money…they all belonged to her and her daughter. She would be damned if she let a nobody take all that rightfully belong to them. She would fight it till her last dying breath. This Zoya had never been up against someone like her!
"Ammi, I have a sister and Abu tried to kill her? This cannot be happening…Abu is a good man, right Ammi?"
"DON'T YOU DARE CALL HER YOUR SISTER!" spat Razia "She is just your father's bas***d child that he had with a wh**e."
The absolute venom in her mother's tone stunned Humeira.
"Ammi…"
"I have no time to explain things to you Humeira. Where is Rashid?"
"Bhabhi, I am here. What's going on? Is there any further news?"
"Rashid we are going to need a good lawyer. Did you manage to contact Mr. Sharma? He is the best in Bhopal."
"Bhabhi, he won't be fighting this case for us. He is representing Zoya Farouqui…the daughter."
"What? How? Does he know who my husband is? Why would he refuse to represent the most influential man in Bhopal?"
Rashid didn't know what to say. At this point his brother-in-law more than being an influential man was a much-shamed man. No amount of power would or could wipe away the fact that he had tried to kill his own daughter.
"Bhabhi he was…" Rashid hesistated "Mr. Sharma was hired by…Asad. I hired another lawyer a Mr. Querishi. He is a good lawyer too."
Razia was horrified. How was Asad Ahmed Khan involved in all of this? Well, she was going to get her answers even if it meant visiting his house.

Najma and Dilshaad were determined to make sure that Zoya was not upset for the rest of the day. They had noticed that since walking out of the room she had come back looking happier and more reassured. Dilshaad was certain her son Asad had something to do with that.
It made her extremely happy to know that Asad had found someone like Zoya. She was everything that Asad needed and definitely everything he wanted. She was happy for Zoya too. As much as she loved Zoya, she knew, that Asad was a stabilizing influence in her life. He was exactly what she needed too.
"Phuphi, what is for dinner? I am really hungry!"
Dilshaad laughed. Only Zoya would ask for dinner so coolly after the emotional trauma she had suffered that day.
"I made all your favourites Zoya. There's pizza, which I made, aloo ka paratha and ice cream. How do you like the sound of that?" Dilshaad asked smiling.
"Phuphi…you are a woman after my own heart! How did you know I wanted pizza and ice cream?" squealed Zoya.
"Don't you always want pizza?"
Zoya laughed, she did always want pizza. There was something comforting about it. Also sticking to her usual routine meant that she wasn't thinking about when Raj was going to call.
Asad was glad she was happy. It had been such a long time since everyone in his family had been so lively and happy at the table. He knew there was a lot to be sad about but things were definitely looking up for them.
"Seriously Ammi…you made pizza. You know I don't like it.", pouted Asad.
"Don't give us the puppy-dog stare Asad…for once in your life you are going to get down and dirty…"
"Down and dirty?" smirked Asad.
"ASAD!", screamed Dilshaad before she burst out laughing. When had her serious son learned to flirt and tease? She was glad.
Zoya for a minute was embarrassed before she too saw the funny side of it and burst out laughing. It felt good to laugh after such an emotionally taxing day.
A sudden ringing of the doorbell halted the mirth around the table.

"Razia what are you doing here?" said Dilshaad coldly. She was in no mood to entertain the manipulative and cold-hearted woman.
"I am here to see a Miss. Zoya Farouqui.", said Razia stiffly.
Asad stiffened in his seat. He did not want Zoya to interact with that insufferable woman anymore than he wanted his mother too. But Zoya was Zoya and she knew how to stand up for herself.
"I am Zoya. How can I help you?"
"Aren't you going to invite me in?" said Razia snidely.
"Well, guests and family members are always welcome Razia but as you are neither you can stand where you are…or leave if you prefer.", said Dilshaad shortly.
"I wouldn't be so rude Dilshaad considering your guest…Zoya…is a liar and is accusing my husband of murder."
"I am NOT a liar and besides Mrs. Siddiqui I do not have to justify myself to you. There is more than enough proof to incarcerate your husband for life!"
"My husband is the most influential man in Bhopal…do you think it will be so easy to convict him. I will make sure that he stays free and you burn for what you have done!"
"I have already been burnt…thanks to your darling husband at the age of three. There is nothing that you can do or say that will affect me in the slightest. Siddiqui may have been powerful but my lawyer…well my lawyer is brilliant…and he is fighting on the side of truth. You don't stand a chance!"
Asad watched in silence as Zoya held her own against Razia. He was so proud of his girl. She was brave and courageous and knew how to stand up for herself. He admired her and this display, if anything, it had made him love her more.
"Do you think I am going to let some bas***d child of my husbands concubine take everything away from me? You are not fit to be in society!", spat Razia.
"Is that what you call your sister-in-law Shireen too, Razia?" said Asad coldly. Razia was mistaken if she thought that he would just stand by and insult his fianc…the love of his life!
Razia spluttered.
"I suggest you leave now before I completely forget my manners and say things I will not take back."
Razia knew when she had been beaten. With one last look at Zoya she walked towards her car swearing she would get her payback!
