Hi guys, I was confused about the ages of Ayaan and Asad and how can it be that Nazma is younger than Nikhat. Well...I've realised that in Islam, a man is able to have four wives at a time. However, a woman isn't. It may be that Rashid had married Shireen even being married to Dilshad. If that did happen, then by Islamic laws Rashid will have to treat both of them the same! That means, if he has relationship with one, he has to have with the other (you know what I mean?) therefore, that's why Nazma is younger than Nikhat. The whole "17 years" thing that Asad keeps going on about, is maybe (by my thoughts) that Rashid hid the marriage from Dilshad and Asad. And they got talak (divorce) around those years...

Asad keeps on repeating 17years, doesn't mean that Rashid abandoned him and Dilshad when he was 17. He might be have been 6 -9 years when it happened.

About Najma being younger to Nikhat, I think Rashid definitely hid the relationship he had with Shireen from Dilshad. If it would've been a normal divorce, Asad wouldn't hate his father so much. Atleast not to this extent.

No, no. To your first point, I was actually thinking that Asad was about 9ish when it happened, because he can't be any older than 27 can he? I'm assuming.

And yes, I totally agree to your last point.

I just read the prologue of Aaiyana and I see that you got the relations part. :p

About his age. Yeah I don't think he might be older than 27-28. :)

Oh and till my knowledge serves, a man can have 4 wives but with the consent of the previous ones and as long as he does justice by the wives and their kids.He should be able to provide for all.

Whereas here I think, Rashid cheated on Dilshad. Gave her divorce and then married his Shireen.

Lol, yes I was wondering what were their ages but concluded that Asad must be around 27, whilst Ayaan is around 23/24 (but given his looks, he looks like a teenager😆)

Zoya is around 21/22 so maybe Nikhat is around that age too as Muslim girls (well, from what I've seen) get married around that age...

Nazma is still at college right? So...around 18/19?

Aayaan looks wayy younger than 23/24, but he might be around that age.

Marriage at what age depends upon where you are from. See it's not the same everywhere. I am Muslim and I have cousins who are 23-24 and are still unmarried. So it really depends on what do you believe in. I have got a Hindu friend who got married at the age of 18 and she lives in the UK. Hindu Muslim Christian, people live in what society,matters.

Najma might be 19. :)

Yeah, true! It's like my family...some have been married off young (mostly the upper generation ie, my mum and the other women) like around 18. But, my cousins (some of them) got married or are planning to get married around 21/22. However, I have aunts that are in their late twenties/early thirties who are still unmarried despite proposals. So yes, I guess it does depend on the traditions of your family.

Well, I think Rashid left Dilshad 17 years ago, but he had married Shireen long before that!

I am muslim got married at 25. My SIL was married to my BIL at 30. It really depends on where one is from and famy and educational background in my country.
