Hello,

I have noticed some of the people here justifying Sheila's anger and her frustration but not her brother's. But to be honest with you isn't her brother taking the revenge for his daughter. Doesn't that then justify his actions too?

He has even resorted to making his sister cry fully knowing that his words are like adding salt to the wound for her yet he does it. He has become selfish in the face of his daughter's tears like Sheila has in the face of her son not getting, what she thinks, is his right. Do the brother and sister then not become the same? What do you think?

Sheila feels that her motherly love for her son is justified and she thinks that it is the right thing to do giving Rubal all the powers but if Avantika says the same then who is more right than the other? Does she not then become hypocritical saying Avantika is wrong to have her son being given the MD power? Is sheila's hypocrisy then justified?

What do you think?

Here's what I think - I have done a course in Philosophy and Ethics and there was a section where we spoke of 'Telos' or Teleological approach to life. Telos refers to the meaning 'purpose' or the 'end' whilst those who justify acts that may seem socially wrong take a teleological approach where they feel that the 'result' of the act justifies the method. In other words, THE END JUSTIFIES THE MEAN! I, for one, believe that the end can never justify the mean no matter what you do. For example, hurting your loved ones like Sheila hurting her martial relationship with her husband at the cost of getting her son to have something he doesn't actually really want. Is her action justifiable when she's hurting those around her once she then has her son receive what she thinks he deserves? Maybe or maybe not.

If it is justifiable because she's a mother and it seems right for people to act in such a way out of motherly love, then it raises the question is there ever an action a mother can take that will be wrong? Is motherly love ever wrong? If it isn't then what her brother and his wife doing isn't wrong in their place either. The other characters like Avantika, Pankhuri etc might feel like that Sheila is wrong but that is only an 'opinion' it holds no absolute value to Sheila. If Sheila doesn't think she's wrong at all, then can we really make some feel wrong?

I know the example I'll use now is probably completely different situation but it's done out of a motherly love. Let's take a mother who is poor but her baby is hungry and suffering and she has no money so she steals to feed her baby. Surely most of us would agree stealing is wrong but they will allow it in certain circumstances, but it doesn't change the fact that they still 'THINK' it is wrong. We have objective opinions about things as well don't we? If we're saying that Sheila's act is justified then are we really saying that she isn't wrong at all or that maybe she is but it's understandable?

I don't know if I have gone off the train with this post, but I'm just interested to know what people think when it comes to mother acting in a such way that seems bizarre for some. Can our mother's feelings be always justified? What do you think?

Thank you for reading and I look forward to your comments :)

Kind Regards

I got your post and an interesting . But one important parameter i would like to add that Sheela antics is justifiable on motherly instinct and her own insecurities had it been on her own rather than being instigated by her brother and his wife. This means that she will realise her fault later on hopefully.

Sheila's brother is taking revenge for what he thinks happened rather than what actually happened.
A marriage proposal was refused. That's all. He should accept these things happen and moved on, but no he and his wife have nurtured hate and feel Avantika refused because their daughter was dark skinned.

So Sheila and her brother's actions cannot be equated at all.

Sheila's brother is nursing his hatred for the Dewan family.
The big question is why is his daughter still single?
It has nothing to do with the colour of one's skin.
They cannot force someone to marry their daughter.

Thank goodness Adi did not marry Sheila's neice because if he did he would have ended up with evil in laws.
Sheila does look like her brother and both are evil. her brother's wife appears to be more evil than him.

About MD the person who is the best qualified and experienced for the job should get it.

Sheila is shameless, if it was not for Adi and Pankhuri then she would be homeless,

I would disagree there.
Sheila isn't evil. She maybe bad and must have been evil in the past (as we have already have seen), but now she has changed to a huge extent and isn't the same person whom we had seen at the beginning of the show. Many may say, that she hasn't changed at all, but I find a lot of change in her. I agree, that she still hasn't been able to accept her in-laws whole heartedly, but she has become a much more better person than what she was a year back.
