Jay (Rithvik Dhanjani) from Pyaar Kii Yeh Ek Kahaani has been noticed for his fit and fabulous body. Being a dancer, it comes as no surprise but not many people are aware that Rithvik has many more talents besides acting and dancing. Read on to find out about them. |
Do you manage to take out time to workout inspite of your shooting schedules? My gym timings are quite flexible, as it is open from 6 am to 12 pm. So, if I am shooting in the morning I workout at night or vice-versa. I try to hit the gym at least four days a week and that takes care of my fitness. What is your fitness regime? I don't have a fixed regime though I try and eat right. As for my regime in the gym, I work on my muscles for three days and one day of cardio. What foods do you include in your diet and what do you avoid? I always try to carry something filled with proteins with me and it is mostly chickpeas as they are very healthy. I also carry sugar free sachets with me and I try to avoid sugar completely. Not many people know that Parle-G biscuits are very healthy as they are baked. I never eat food on the sets as it is too oily and has too much soda. I prefer to carry my own food. What are your problem areas and how have you worked on them? Like most people, my problem area is my lower abs. I find it difficult to lose baby fat on the lower abs so I am trying to work on that area. You recently shot a boxing sequence in PKYEK, did you need any special preparation for it? I made it a point to workout religiously a few days before that sequence, to look fit. Also, since I am not a boxer, I downloaded videos from Youtube to make sure that I get the stance and body language right. In what way, has dance helped you to be fit? I have been a dancer for eight or nine years and it has played a major role in keeping me fit. I did not even have to go to the gym during those days as I used to do about six shows a month and my metabolism was high. I did not need to a separate workout regime as dance used to take care of my fitness. Share a memorable dance performance? That has to be when I won the first prize at the Dubai International Dance Competition in 2009. I had choreographed the couple dance myself and I won even though I have never been trained in dance. Have you seen STAR Plus's dance reality show Just Dance? What do you think of it? I follow Just Dance regularly and some of the performers are fabulous. Ankan's performance in the Top 21 round just took my breath away and I am looking forward to see more such acts. What advice would you give the contestants? The contestants have received a big platform, so all I can say is they should fasten their seat belts and get ready for some fabulous opportunities in the future. Besides that, of course they should put in a lot of hard work and dedicate themselves to dance. Which Hrithik dance number is your favourite and why? Hrithik is my favourite so I like all his dance numbers but if I have to choose it will be Hawaon Ne Yeh Kaha from Aap Mujhe Achche Lagne Lage. That was the first number that I had performed on in class 10 and I had won the second prize. I wasn't a dancer at that time and this win inspired me to turn into one. What do you feel about Farah and Vaibhavi's choreography and which of their dance numbers are your favourite? I have been following Vaibhaviji's work and I have to say that she is one of the best choreographers that the industry has. Her work in Aaja Nache was simply fabulous and it was perfect for Madhuri Dixit's comeback in Bollywood. As for Farahji, I am too small to even comment on her work. You also play the guitar, drums and mouth organ. Tell us something about these passions? Yes, I do play quite a few instruments and I have learnt all these by watching videos. Like dance, I never took professional training for these instruments too. I just asked my dad to get me a guitar and then learnt how to strum correctly from Youtube, it is the same with the drums and mouth organ. |
