Abhay Raichand really loves Maithli , doesn't he? He loves her enough to run to the end of the world from whatever/whoever reminds him of his incomplete love for her . He is many things ' arrogant , rude , rigid , "heartless", stone faced but at the same time he is as vulnerable as a human-being. Or maybe more. And Abhay is behaving with Piya exactly as we would behave when faced with the doppelganger of what you have loved with every fiber of your existence.
Today, Abhay was on his usual, mom-injected Anti-Piya campaign as he categorically told Pancchi that he will not rehearse with Piya. And surprise, surprise, the no-nonsense Pancchi was actually putting up with Abhay's tantrums ' be it costumes , Piya 'ke-saath 'rehearse -nahiin - karunga anthem. And Abhay's greatest masculine weapon is his intensity and it shook Pancchi as well as she backed away when Abhay said his lines. Hmmm' I think Abhay , in a way has regard for Pancchi. He listens to her and her opinion matters to him. Strange , I know but that is how it comes across. Who else has the guts to tell Abhay that he needs to diet and not get a socked jaw in return? As of now, Pancchi Dobriyaal'..
And then, the moment came'. Abhay stood on the stage ' not being spontaneous but saying his rehearsed lines like a method actor and his eyes closed. The dialogues were heavy duty because Abhay-Piya talked about love and hatred in the same breath. Piya came' looking a ghostly reflection of Abhay's Maithli'.
In that spilt second that Abhay set his eyes on Piya' you slowly saw his hard expression soften.. intensity left him and the muscles on his face moved ' maybe for the first time? The Abhay you saw gently put his hand on Piya's bare arm and caress and hold her face was Maithli's Abhay' a loving , tender Abhay who was besotted with the image of his lost beloved in front of him. And not only us, even Pancchi and Kabir noticed that fleeting change in Abhay. For those few moments, he was a sentimental Abhay ' you could see it in his eyes and in the way he held Piya. Piya? Well, she is a permanent patient of Abhay's hypnosis ' she seemed touched and lost in his proximity '..and you could see that she herself snapped out of a dream when Abhay realizing that she is Piya , not Maithli released her immediately. Infact , all her sworn hatred for Abhay had done out of the window when Abhay held her '. Piya was affected and you could see it.
And then, Abhay came back to his senses and he turned away with a jerk, gathering himself and Piya felt disappointed and surprised at the same time. And Abhay ran'. Ran away from Piya , her scent , her presence ' ran to the end of the world as though running away from the tender defenceless Abhay he had been for those few seconds'.and in the darkness of that jungle, he separated Piya and Maithli and let out a scream' scream of the wounded man behind the monster''
Abhay's Mom? Kya ye aunty kabhi bhi Abhay ko koi dhung ki baat nahiin sikha sakti? I don't understand why Abhay's parents torture him so much? Go to college ' befriend everyone ' be the hero ' do this ' do that! Uff! As if all this control over Abhay's life was not enough , now aunty has a new order for Abhay. Want to keep Piya away? Go and misbehave with her. I swear my jaw dropped to the floor. Misbehave with Piya so that Piya starts hating him? Is this woman perpetually drunk? Already, Abhay is in an explosive emotional state and on top of that this is the advice that a mother has?
Anyway , now the ultimate Abhay-Piya cuteness. I loved how Piya was fuming and fretting about Abhay being a meanie and the poor girl checked out herself in the mirror to see if something was wrong with her face? Lol. AP have one trait in common. They love 'CLAIMING' to hate each-other.
On the end note, it is scary and moving at the same time that Abhay still loves Maithli and he loves her with a passion that unhinges his soul'. And our Piya Jaiswal has to take over this love. Mount Everest is easier , darlings.
