‘I couldn’t wait endlessly for film offer

Model Indraneil Sengupta debuts on the small-screen with Pyaar Ke Do Naam - Ek Radha Ek Shyam.

What made you switch from modelling to television?

It's is a logical step and a great opportunity to launch my career on television. I am fortunate to get a double role in a daily soap. Moreover it is a Rajshri production.

Didn't you want to do films?

I was waiting for good film offers. I couldn't wait endlessly. I don't have a sugar daddy or a producer father to back me. I never watched soaps either. I used to see only the History Channel and the National Geographic. But that does not mean I look down on soaps.

'Pyaar Ke Do Naam…' is based on the theme of reincarnation. Do you believe in it?

I don't. I believe that you can fall in love only once. Love is not just about physical needs. It's about how comfortable you are with the other person.

So, who is the person you are most comfortable with?

I am a very private person. More so when it's regarding something as personal as my lady love! I believe that even public figures have a right to privacy. Being a celebrity doesn't mean that you have to disclose everything about your life. But I am not against those who discuss their private life in public.
