I really, really didn't want to talk about Akash and Ishita today, but since there's already a bit of discussion going on...and given that those two are being given a significant chunk of dialogues and screen time, I might as well put down a few thoughts anyway to get it over with.
Akash's behavior in the hospital didn't sit too well with me...But you know what? I can give him a little wiggle room here and say that we've seen how melodramatic the character tends to be - he's shouted and ranted and raved impulsively before...Maybe that is what the director was trying to show - and all I could think of during that scene was how Yash is so different from Akash, especially because of the positive, strengthening, calming effect Aarti's presence has had on him. How each of them channels his frustration and anger and anxiety differently. I loved Yash's reaction. He was scared for his child, anxious, confused, and frustrated. He tried to restrain Akash before the latter could do more damage to the situation, and Yash only really lost his temper when the security guard wasn't answering him. I would have expected Yash to snap and be the one yelling...but no, he had enough presence of mind to try and buffer Akash's "You'll be left jobless...etc." angry threats while he himself was frantic with worry.
The baby kidnapping. Suspense is needed, I understand, and it was done well, considering the fact that the focus was probably meant to be on the fact that an "aunt" was kidnapping her own newborn nephew. Appalling, to put it kindly. The highlight of the entire episode was the look on Aarti's face when Ishita turns around with Aayu in her arms. Multiple emotions expressed on Aarti's face with such rapidity that they seamlessly flow into one another. Incredibly well done! Effortless expression!
Gurmeet and Kratika managed to be the scene stealers today in my book - the way their characters have been written and enacted for more than a year just keeps on bringing out new examples of the impact of understated acting and delivery. These two can deliver, and how.
P.S. The precap. Best way to end the week. I was sitting here with a smile on my face upon seeing the tense tightness in Aarti's face give way to unleashed rage...Similarly, all the tension flooded out of my own body as soon as Aarti slapped Ishita. If this is Ishita's dream (and I'm going to wait until the episode actually airs before I settle on this...) it is going to parallel Prashant's dream/nightmare about Yash/Aarti. That was before he started getting really desperate...so maybe this is a good sign.
Edit: Okay. Done with that. Kratika seriously reminded me of JKR in that precap, and I LOVE it. Dream or not, I love it. Gurmeet was so wonderful today as well - he and Kratika were great in the "check on Aayu" scenes also!
