Atleast 7 channels has around 50+ daily soaps. Each soap tries to come up with a selling point. When a show becomes troubled, the selling point is changed and the show gets revamped. Very few succeeds, most of them goes off air.
Now lets look at PVs selling point. Yes, it had brought in two actors as lead who had already got TV legend status. But did the production highlighted it? Nope...it was always the concept that was focused. How marriage between two people loosing their first love gives life a second chance for their kids and end up being each other's soulmate...of course along with the fact that they also turn out to be successful parents. It was all about the journey of Yash and Aarti...portrayed by two great actors who brought their previous fame and good looks along with them which allowed the show to portray this different storyline strongly.
Everything went somewhat beautifully. Their initial discomfort, children having problem to adjust with new parents and siblings, Aarti falling in love, Yash subconsciously reciprocating, a consummation and Aarti's pregnancy, Yash's dilemma and confusion, then revelation of Aarti's past and Yash succeeding in test of love and faith. 👏 As beautiful as it could be.
Then the focus was totally shifted to a new storyline. The CVs thought, alright...lets bring a vamp. So they brought Ishita who is somewhat in a middle state. Out of nowhere drops Akash. And then this child swap. No sign of it's selling point and few room for the couple who had made a strong place in TV world due to their subtle chemistry coupled with good acting and great looks.
When a show looses its focus or goes trough a revamp..it means it is troubled. I didn't see any sign of Punar Vivah being a 'troubled' show. The 10:30 slot itself had low TRP.
The biggest surprise is when gurmeet and kratika had established themselves as a successful pair after so much hard work...all comes to kinda nothing. Small ArYa moments are there...ArYa moments have turned more direct than being subtle...but yet...it doesn't compensate the story...the selling point that made it so much different from others.
Hope PV gets back to the place where it belonged to...a journey of Yash..Aarti and Children...a journey of re marriage, not a journey of some lost brother and his lunatic wife.
