I had to remind them of each other's loss - after all they hadn't done the decent thing of conveying condolences for the other's loss yet 😆. But that was an important moment as you observed and am so glad it came across properly.

Sotto voce - (the e actually has an apostrophe on top - don't know how to do that formatting on IF). It literally means "false voice" - speaking very softly, not in a whisper, but very low volume. The two are still relative strangers - so Yash couldn't whisper to Arti. But he did not want the driver to hear either - so asked her very softly.
