Anas Rashid forgets his exercise regime while shooting for long hours for Dharti Ka Veer Yodha: Prithviraj Chauhan

Television serials based on historic characters continue to grab our attention and enjoy high TRP ratings. Dharti Ka Veer Yodha: Prithviraj Chauhan on Star Plus is not an exception. Anas Rashid, who plays Prithviraj Chauhan, continues to learn more about his character with every passing day.
"To understand the character better I try to live it. It's extremely difficult to do justice to a historic character, especially like that of Prithviraj Chauhan. One needs to be true to history books yet add that dramatic element to keep the audience glued to television sets," says Rashid.
Here' a synopsis of the story so far. Sanyogita (played by Sheetal Dhabolkar) was deeply in love with Prithviraj but due to differences between Prithviraj and Jaichand (Sanyogita's father), Sanyogita starts hating him. To forget him, she plans to visit the places where the two have been together. And a yatra begins. Meanwhile, Ghori enters Prithviraj's kingdom and starts plundering villages. Prithviraj retaliates and this angers Ghori. Furious, Ghori joins the yatra and kidnaps Sanyogita. There's a showdown and Prithviraj defeats Ghori and saves Sanyogita. The drama continues when Jaichand plans (and Sanyogita comes to know of it) to send goons to kill Prithviraj.
"This is an opportunity to portray a character I'll never meet in real life. This is truly a tale of courage."
Rashid thinks history books in school should devote more pages to this historic character. "When I was in school, there were hardly two pages on him. Now that I am portraying the character on screen, I have to feel the character. Instead of reading history books, I depend on scripts that are well written and researched. This is a tale of patriotism and all young Indians should appreciate it.
"I was a bit tired of doing the same old serials with scheming housewives who wear designer saris even at 9 a.m. This is a pleasant break and would surely add value to my repertoire. I've been so busy working on the Star Plus serial that I don't get time to exercise. Long hours are spent on the sets but I'm not complaining. Who doesn't want to play a hero's role, especially that of Prithviraj Chauhan?" he rounds off.
