Nisha Sagar's affair with Prithviraj Chauhan | ||||
| Prithviraj Chauhan has a new woman in his life. Nisha Sagar, wife of producer Prem Sagar, also a renowned designer has designed the look of characters of Star Plus' recently launched historical, Dhartee ka veer yoddha - Prithviraj Chauhan.
"It's been a very tough exercise because there is not much available on Prithviraj Chouhan in history books. They all talk about his valour and bravery but there is not much description on his clothes or costumes. There isn't much explanation on the sense of dressing by kings and ruler of his era also. I searched all around for six months before zeroing down on the looks. Only sketch picture is available that is drawn through artiste's imagination. It's been a challenge for me as a designer because I had to work mostly with my imagination of his personality and pictures of other rulers in Mewar but I have thoroughly enjoyed it," says Nisha. To the young Prithvi, Nisha has given Jamawaar with embroidery of diamond and metal pieces. However a grown up Prithviraj Chouhan was a mammoth task. Young and vulnerable, he was also struck terror in the heats of his opponents. Angad Bedi's long tresses have helped her a lot because it gave him a kind of wild but powerful royal grace. As for Nisha, she gave him brocade Angrakha with Dhoti. Jewlry is contemporary of that period but something that would gel well with the personality of a warrior. His stole is made of tissue, with lots of embroidery. His morjari have the gold/silver thread embroidery and traditional kasab work. "I went to Rajasthan to do the research. I have been through a lots of books to understand the original motifs and their meaning. But eventually all the hard work paid off and I could get everything right," says Nisha. For Roop Sundari Nisha has used only brocade. Her Gahghra has the ghera (circumference) of 20 meters. "We have taken Rajasthan motifs to highlight the material and its sheen. They are very authentic and original motif. I gave her long traditional choli. Colours used for her are also not bright because of the age factor," explains Nisha. Rajeshwari's clothes are designed with lots of tissue which has brocade patched in to enhance the look. Colours are mostly vine colour because she is the queen. Sanjukta, is young and full of life. So Nisha has somewhat experimented with her. As she says, "I have given her short blouse to make her look sexy. Motifs on ghaaghra are also not hardcore traditional cause she is so young. Colours are magenta and turquoise blue; mostly bright ones. Parameter of her Ghaaghra is only 18 meters because she is very petit and slim. Her Ghaghra has 36 kalees to add glamour." Nayan Tara has her dresses made in net with loads of embellishment and embroidery to add the glitter. Her ghaghra is in two layers with girth o 25 meters. She has been in fashion industry for seven years. Why has she chosen this serial to enter television as a designer? "I was happy designing for brides and grooms. I have also ventured into prt now. But somehow I could not keep away from the challenge of designing for a period costume drama which doesn't have much literature available to fall back on." Nisha is also designing the look and clothes for Tina Rana Ghai in BR Chopra's Viraasat. Tina is playing a negative character and Nisha found it the best medium to show-off her flirtations with prt. |
