Read that article. Also saw that comment. Guys intimate romance can be aesthic also. Whoever put that comment needs to watch Mani Ratnam movies or the Malayalam movie Vaishali and the song " Indupushpam choodi nikkum rathri"
If I go by SKR romance, the SKR Romance was always aesthetic. Coming to CK the director can go a bit all out as Siya-Ram is divine, there is boundary for showing romance, but this fantasy. Beautiful aesthetic romance with the lead pair who doesnt want to watch.

What is pseudo feminism. SKR didnt had pseudo feminism. It was quite balanced. I had watched and analyzed that show completely.

Shows like SNS, and EK Maiyya's mahanta ki moorat has pseudo feminism and male chavunism.

CK at this point has a very good script that is opening up beautifully.

GK has haters? 😲 Haven't been active on his show forums after YPNHK, but I doubt anything would warrant hatred for him.

As for the feminism topic... it it amusing to see historical and mythological shows portraying much stronger women (both physically and emotionally) that the ones set in the current times.

On a different note, it is so good to see avatars of some old favorites... Abhi-Nikki.

Mythology and history do had stronger women. Remember Sita who preferred dying over forgiving Ram for hurting her. Remember Draupadi who never forgave Kauravas and took pleasure in seeing them killed one by one. Remember Jodha who was also a warrior. Remember Razia Sultan who fought with evils including her step-mother and step-brother. Remember Rahi Lakshmibai who fought with Britishers till her death. So it's not amusing if even 1 out of 50 shows show heroine as strong and hero actually respecting women without showing any ego. In 80s and 90s era, TV shows showed stronger women but nowadays people only love abusive hero and weak heroine nonsense.

Word!!

I find it amusing since there are writers and producers who go on and on about feminism and then dish out such crap. Equally so with the viewers who lap up the shows with glee.

Not that there are few strong women now. But their stories hardly have takers. I doubt a show like Udaan (the DD one) would have takers today.

See if we have moved away from many regressive things. But then TV shows still dish out regressive things. Unfortunately a generation has grown up believing this is Indian culture. It saddens me to see youngsters glorifying door mat attitude and hypocrisy.

There was a time when there used to be really good shows on Indian TV.Female characters were strong and level headed and male characters were respectful and dignified.I used to follow Left Right Left and I really liked Captain Rajveer and Naina.Rajveer was a powerful character but he was not abusive.Nowadays sadly some folks believe that if a male character is not arrogant and a jerk then he is not strong It's a misconception.
Coming to portrayal of women, the blame mainly goes to Ekta. Many of her recent shows portray women in a regressive light. Her previous K shows were far better.Tulsi,Parvati and Prerna were strong in their own ways.Nandini from Kyunki had the spine to leave her abusive husband.Today all her shows are about the pativrata naari who can tolerate everything.Gul and Rashmi followed her path.Gul,infact, took it to a different level by glorifying and romanticising domestic abuse.

My point is that in order to be called strong character a male lead doesn't have to be a jerk and a female lead doesn't have to be a superwoman. They can be normal yet strong.Their love stories can be intense and passionate without romanticising abuse.

Recently Bahubali became a blockbuster. In that movie Amarendra and Devsena's love story was beautiful, intense and passionate.Yet they were so dignified and respectful towards each other.
Similarly CK may have its flaws but I really love ChaVi's characterizations. This CK is a genuinely strong woman and a woman of substance. And Virendra is a passionate love but he is not abusive. This is what makes better than all Ekta/Gul soaps.

If Rashmi made Chandrakanta then Viru and SD would be brothers and Shyamala would be Chandrakanta's sister. Both sister would have solved all the problems even fighting with Kroor Singh and Mareech while Viru and SD would be shown dumb by only standing in the background😆.

If Gul made Chandrakanta then Chandrakanta would be one of the maids in Viru's palace, SD as Viru's brother-in-law who would have lustful eyes on Chandrakanta and Shyamala as Viru's sister. Also Mansi would be fiancee of Viru. Viru would always manhandle and torture CK and then marry her forcibly and increased his torture on her when he would accuse her of trying to break his sister's marriage. All characters would live only in 1 palace as Gul can always afford only 1 set😆.

On a serious note, I hope iss show ko kisi ki buri nazar na lage aur ye show baaki shows ki tarah bakwaas na bane. Aise shows bahot mushkil se milte hai dekhne ko😊.

@Ashi did you read my review on Bahubali. It is in writer's corner. What a movie. Both Shivgami and Devasena were powerful women, yet graceful and feminine. Amarendra Bahubali strength was in standing up for what he believed is right. Do check out. I had given the link of review in Ashish AT.
