I just want to add to your dicussion of the education system in the UK. The major difference is that you do not get tested each year from the very start of school. You do not need to pass the year to go on to the next and neither can you repeat the year. It is only when you reach the age of 16 that you are able to re sit exams but you can't repeat the whole year at that age. In College or University you are able to resit exams AND repeat the year(s) of study. Education is free up until the age of 18. You do not need to pay for books, exams or tuition fees.
