ROUND 1:DISPUTE
Katra Naresh headed towards the closet in his bedroom. Kesar awoke and offered to help him find what he was looking for. KN convinced he had his wife's attention gave a nonchalant response. He made small talk about going to the police station not a wedding where it didn't matter what clothes he wore, if they were old or new, good or bad, just the same clothes every day. Who cares what clothes he had! It's hard to tell if this guy is serious but if he can convince us with his poor me, help me out! speech, a poor sucker like Kesar doesn't stand a chance. Amma cried her eyes out within earshot of Kesar. What a Notanki Queen!😲 Taking his mother's cue, KN asked Kesar why she was dragging Amma into this because she didn't do anything wrong. He was the one who hurt her so she should punish him. Kesar quick get that bit recorded so the next time he raises his hand to whack you, you can remind him of his due punishment. If she thought Amma was guilty then she should keep your distance from her sasuma. Yeah right! Like that was going to happen. He was some piece of work! He will say and do just about anything to con her into doing his bidding. Amma should be calling him "besharamee". No sign of her today, except for the wailing in the background. Probably getting ready for a visit to the real khaidhkhana.
ROUND 2:CHALLENGE
Just then SS entered the room and told KN to get ready to leave for the police station. He reminded his aulad that he was going to the police station to answer for his deeds not to take pheres in a mandap. SS then turned his attention to Kesar and inquired as to her wellbeing. He said he was sad that KN had done this to her. He wanted to punish KN but he just couldn't. He said the saddest thing was that she, Kesar had come under the influence and had started listening to the outsider Prats who was bent on punishing your husband and sasuma. He played his emotional blackmail game with Kesar telling her that she was once one of them but had recently started behaving like an outsider. KN was her husband and sending him to jail did not shed a good light on her. He told her not to forget that a woman makes and breaks a home. Prats had barely been there for two days and she wanted to lead Kesar down a path and she had let her do it. How easily you forget Takur saheb! This is the same bahu you praised for saving your potha from being aborted by big bully KN. Today all that was just a figment of your imagination. Memory problems? He pleaded with her not to make the mistake of punishing her husband and sasuma. She still had time to rectify the mistake and make it good. With the parting "you or your God only knows" SS left the room having done his bit of emotional blackmail for good measure. SS was completing his hat-trick sessions of emotional blackmail. Got to say, he was on a roll and quite a master at it. Kesar looked torn. Kesar take your time but hope all this is tripping the fuse inside you and sparking some light in your brain to no longer be a doormat and take this abuse. You knew nothing better all these years. Don't take everything you sasurji tells you seriously. RED wants to have it their way. Once they get what they want from you they will flip you back to being a punching bag. Btw, remember SS telling you that until you delivered the baby you were going to be the Queen of the Niwas upon your return from the hospital having dodged an attempt at abortion by KN? Maybe you should call in those favors and take a trip out of that Niwas and go meet your family for a change. In all these months you have left his house three times, to take sagun to Saxsenas for Komal, to hospital for abortion attempt and the trip to the hospital last week. You need some fresh air, lady! Krishna was right, the hawa in the Niwas is karaab, go away for a while to breathe in some fresh air.
ROUND 3: ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
Krishna was missing a button on his shirt. Again? It was a different day, a different time and a different mood. She offered to fix it for him. Ok, now next time can you think of other ways so the two of you can have some quality time together besides sewing buttons?😲 Pats said she knew Krishna was angry with her because she had not given him any attention this morning. Kesar was still not doing well and she had spent most of her time with bhabhi. She said she knew whatever happened or was happening now was bec' of her. She also felt bad at the way the people in the house spoke to Krishna. Awww! I bet it made him feel good to know you realized that. He admitted that what had happened with Kesar was wrong and should never have happened. Prats encouraged him to open up and tell her what was on his mind. Krishna agreed that the whole incident was shameful but did that mean his Amma and KN had to be sent to jail? Why would Amma have to go through the humiliation if she was punished. Whatever had happened to Kesar was wrong and he even accepted that Amma was there when it happened as well. But he didn't think she would ever want a pregnant woman beaten and that too in her presence. As serious as it was family problems needed to be resolved at home. By taking it out in public it only brought humiliation and dishonor to the family. Prats was aware of Krishna's predicament.
ROUND 4: URGEPrats explained to Krishna if KN and Amma were not punished now then they will do it again and again bec' they won't fear anything and will do what comes to mind. It's a bigger crime to tolerate a crime than commit it. Thanks for keeping it short Prats👍🏼. Krishna asked her to forget all those bookish talk. He wanted to know if she expected him to sit quietly and watch the tamasha of his mother being hauled away to jail. He wanted her to tell him how she would feel watching her Amma being handcuffed and taken away to khaidhkana in front of her. Ummmm! It may seem like a lifetime ago but Krishna remember when you had Adarsh arrested bec' Shamu filed a complaint against you? Prats saw what it was like to see her bro taken to jail for no reason. He felt like a double-sided drum (Mirudangam) being beaten on both sides with his wife on one side and his mother on the other. 😕Krishna interrupted Prats, said his family had given him tons of love and she knew he loved her a lot too. He wanted her to forget the rules and laws and ask Kesar to recall her complaint. He asked Prats to listen to him but she wasn't ready to give up her stand on this issue for now.
ROUND 5: ALTERCATION
Komal came into the Niwas doing a roll call of the members of the house. Ganti Dadi told her they have gone to police station. Was this the day left for this family to see, she vented. Komal accused Prats of instigating action to send Amma and KN to jail. She had lost faith in Prats after this fiasco when she had earlier accepted and respected her. Prats tried to explain but Komal said what she saw was plenty. Hey you, Komal! learn to hear the story or get the facts first before you go shooting your mouth off. We get you are anxious to get your Amma back home but how about you let someone explain matters first and then we'll see if you change your mind once you've cooled off and know the whole story. Krishna came to Prats's defense and asked Komal to stop taking off like a rocket and listen to the whole story first. Komal was in no mood to listen to reason. She accused Krishna of having no shame for sending his mother to jail. She was on the warpath to confront Kesar next. Hey, Komaliya! Chill! Let your bhabhis get a word in edgewise will you. Stop being such a hothead already.Don't act like your mother and boss everyone around simply bec' they don't get confrontational like you.
ROUND 6: CONFRONTATION
She woke up Kesar and asked her how she could send her husband and sasuma to jail. It wasn't the first time KN had hit her and anyways it was all part of the Takur family's rules and regulations she reasoned. Kesar let Komal ramble on as she sat in silence. Komal,listen up little girl! In situations like this it's important that you listen to the facts or the story first before you act like a uniformed officer questioning a suspect of a crime. What do you know about the bond a mother has with an unborn child? So rein in those horses for a moment and do show an ounce of empathy for the bhabhi who has been part of your life for a long time as well. We know you are anxious for your mother but remember she is not alone, your geyzer dad has gone along to handle matters there. When Kesar didn't say a word, Komal pressed her to speak up. Komal sees to have a runaway mouth at the moment slinging accusations at the moment, proving she is SDS's daughter after all. Prats came in and explained to Komal that Kesar was beaten worse than an animal. KN had no remorse for his actions😲. If he was not stopped now it will enbolden him to do more the next time. As a woman did Komal not understand what a woman goes through when her baby is taken away from her? This mother's child was killed even before it was born. Komal was visibly shocked.😲 But her need to defend her mother came to the fore. Prats stated that Kesar's child had been sacrificed for their false pride and ego. Prats seems to be giving the same speech to both Krishna and Komal, driving home that the Takurs were hung up on their false pride and not the well being of family members. Komal now looked disturbed by what she had just heard. She haltingly said she didn't want to argue with Prats. Of course you wouldn't bec' you have just heard the details for the first time. Now you get why you should have waited before he jumped on Kesar? She thought it best that Prats didn't rejoice but stayed out of this matter and let KN and Kesar deal with it. Komal do you not get that left to Kesar, it will be the same status-quo she's been living with all her years at the Niwas?😕
ROUND 7: REALIZATION
Back near center stage, Krishna and Adarsh, jiju and saale saheb, had a heart to heart, cordial chat for the first time😃. Krishna told Adarsh, Komal was stubborn and when angry she just rambled on about what came to mind, was his sister after all. Baba, we think Adarsh has figured that much out about Komal already. He said Pratigya was not any less stubborn. Ok, now we get Komal was the lead-in to the real matter on hand. Adarsh was a good listener👍🏼👏. Krishna said he understood that Prats was doing the right thing but what was the meaning in taking it too far that it broke up the family. Now, Adarsh had some wise words for his jiju. He knew Prats very well and if she was taking a stand it was bec' something had gone terribly wrong or she wouldn't do it. There was no harm in standing up for the truth. Krishna said Adarsh sounded like his sister,😆 she saw only two sides, wrong and right, black and white, that's it, she didn't see the greys in between😕. He didn't understand the bookish knowledge and how they added value to real life all this talk about truth lie, law and justice. He argued that sometimes one had to use their brains bec' it was about family and bec of her his family was now falling apart and it made no difference to her😕. This was not a university but a home. Adarsh tried to get Krishna to understand Prats's actions. What Krishna was referring to bookish stuff was not only studied in universities but could be applied to real life as well. It was true that Prats would do anything for her family. Was Adarsh referring to Prats's decision to marry Krishna to save her family's honor way back when? Prats would also stand up to prove for what was right he added. This caught Krishna's attention and he seemed reflective.😕
ROUND 8: APPEAL
He asked Krishna to understand these were trying times for Prats. It was always easy to fight outsiders but tougher when it's one's own family. Ready to leave, Adarsh paused just long enough to make a request to Krishna. He asked Krishna to support Prats every step of the way bec' he was the only one in his family who understood her. Right now she needed his support very much. So take care of her,PLEASE, he appealed. Nice job, Adarsh babu, you are indeed a good brother👏. Adarsh took Ganti Dadi's blessings and left the Niwas. Guess he's had enough of the karaab hawa in that Niwas. Krishna had a lot to reflect upon, Adarsh had given him much tot think about. The wheels are spinning and soon he will put the pieces together and support Prats all the way. After all he has promised to "hamesha saat dena" to Prats for saat janam, and Baba jaban mei pakka hai na?😉
ROUND 9: INQUISITION
Komal was not done with Kesar. She began her Takur inquisition and asked Kesar with what authority she would put sindoor on her "maang" after sending her husband to jail. If things go wrong between husband and wife do they become each other's enemies? In her quest to hang KN she had dragged Amma into it too. Kesar was confused and glanced at Prats. Prats listened in silence letting Komal have her say. It wasn't a new phenomenon for women in the Niwas to get beaten up so why was she listening to new schools of thought to destroy this home and humiliate this family? Komal bitiya! Was that a dig at Prats? In one day you have managed to bully your bhabhis like your Amma does and making snide remarks like your bauji. Wait till you find out about their plans to kill your bhabhi Prats. She advised Kesar not to take advice from others or she could never reach the skies nor have a ground to stand on. She gave Kesar the same reminder SS did earlier in the day that she still had one more chance to fix her mistake. Kesar mulled over it😕.
Preview: Komal dragged Kesar out of bed and brought her to Krishna. She told him not to miss this opportunity to show he is a good son. She asked Krishna to forget what had happened so far and go with her to the station to get Amma and KN. If he does that he can save himself from being called a spoilt child. Krishna didn't look pleased with Komal's rant.
NEXT WEEK: Entry of the Mathur family and resolution of FIR filed by Kesar and return of the REDs from police station. Where does that leave Krishna and Prats?😲😉😃
