i have read some posts in pratigya forums where people say ...........................
why pratigya calls herself HUM [ like a queen)......she should b saying main instead of hum...
let me tell me the reason y she uses hum........
the story is based in allahabad(uttar pradesh in india ).
and people in uttarpradesh, bihar n jharkhand speak like this only ............
they say hum instead of main.
i live in bihar we speak like this..........hum aa rahe hain(.i m coming).
we dnt use main.......we say hum for myself.
if we r saying hum that doesnt means we r kings n queens.........
this is the way we have been speaking hindi always in bihar.
still any1 have any doubts about hum than plz do ask me...........

But then why does she not address Krishna as aap instead of tum? Hum is a way of addressing onesel,f as a way of respect, in some parts of North India, but in the same way they also address others as aap, isn't it? So is it that she respects herself but not Krishna?

No, the issue is she calls herself hum and other elder members of the family as 'Aap' but for Krishna alone she says 'Tum'.

When she could call Adarsh as 'Aap' or Nitin as 'Aap' why don't she address Krishna as 'Aap'. Even she 'pretends' to give respect to Krishna in front of everyone as 'Aap'. Isn't it bad on her part?

Why drama of showing respect to Krishna in front of others when actually there is no respect towards him?

we say hum not for respecting ourselves.
hum has nothign to do with self respect.
we say hum instead of main, bcoz its the local language of uttar pradesh ,bihar n jharkhand,.
y cant u people understand .......this is the kind of language spoken in these states.
we address our elders as aap.adarsh is her elder brother.
y she adrreses nitin as aap.i dont knoe that.
do u have any more doubts about hum?
hamara language hi aisa hai.

Monika ,

You misunderstand ,I got the "Hum" Part ...My query was whether biwi's said "Tum" when speaking or saying something to their husbands..

Ex: Ye Lo ,aagayee THUMARI Chay or would Allahabad ppl say " Ye lijiye aapka Chay "

why I am raising this point is ,I see Nainaji addressing Shyamji as "Aap" but Pratigya addresses Krishna as TUM..
