chapter 7
The evening was really great and I enjoyed myself very much. krishna always made me laugh and feel at ease when I was around him. And I was kind of proud that he had decided to show me a part of his world.
"Oh, do you really want to go?" Asked Rajev Uncle sad when we were about to leave.
"Yes, Rajev Uncle. We have to go. But thank you." answered krishna hugging him.
"Thank you for the delicious meal, Rajev Uncle." I bent down and touched his feet.
"You are really a good girl, Miss pratigya." He took my face in his hands and kissed my forehead.
"Hold her, krishna or shell leave you." He said to krishna who only nodded.
"I hope to see you again." I smiled.
"I hope so, too. Bye Rajev Uncle." We left the restaurant.
On the way home krishna was very quiet and lost in his thoughts.
"Are you ok, krishna?" I asked a bit concerned.
"Huh... umm.... yeah...sure... Im fine." he stuttered, but I knew he was lying.
"Here we are." right then he parked the car outside my house.
"krshna... We are friends, you cant hide your feelings from me..." I said soft and put my hand on his arm. He looked suprised, almost scared at me.
"I know that you are upset with something. Do you miss your parents?" He looked confused at me.
"Umm...yeah, yeah I miss my parents. Ok, its late. I wish you a good night." he said, I nodded and got out of the car.
"Good night, krishna." He drove very fast away without waiting till I was in the house. He was really strange today.
Der Didi,
How are you? How is your work, do you still have to cope with that old ugly Mr. Balank??? ;) I feel really sorry for you.
Im so sorry for not telling you that Rishi is krishnas brother, but we wanted to know how long it takes for you two to find it out :
Here is everything fine. I still love it, but Im really stressed at the moment. The final exams are in a few months and I have learn very much, but Rishi, Tanita, her boyfriend and me learn together... I know what you think, but we really work and dont only talk. :D
So, what about you and krishna now, ha? He went with you to Rajev Uncles restaurant. Wow, thats really a honour for you. Rishi told me that Rajev Uncle was like a father for them after their parents death and that krishna really lookes up to him. He also told me that Rajev Uncle doesnt like everybody. Hes very picky, but you stole his heart. That was so obvious... I mean you are my sister
So, you are an item now??? Im so happy for both of you, you are really a perfect match.
Ok, Didi. I have to go, class is calling.
Love you,
Poo
I was shocked. How could Poo think that krishna and me were in love? I mean, we are friends, but nothing more... Or was he more than a friend to me? He has been there for me no matter what, he always made me laugh, built me up, comforted me, showed me how to have fun...
I didnt know why, but suddenly I felt a strange feeling inside me. When I thought about krishna like that my heart began to race and I felt very warm.
"Ms. pratigya!" Mr. Balanks voice brought me back to reality. I hurried into his office.
"Yes, sir? What can I do for you?" I asked with a fake smile, how much I hated him. Sure he had given me a job after my parents death, but the salary was really bad and he treated me like a slave.
"Ms.pratigya. Im sorry to have to tell you that, but you are fired." he simply said. I was shocked.
"But sir... Why?" He looked at me, folded his hands and put them on the table.
"You have to know, the business isnt going too well in the last time and we have to safe money to be able to survive this crisis. Im really sorry, but you are too expensive for us. You can pack your stuff and leave." He explained, trying to sound sorry for me, but I knew he was lying.
"Now?" He only nodded. I was too shocked to say anything, so I just left and packed my stuff from my desk.
Right when I was about to leave I felt the anger rise inside me, so I stormed into Mr. Balanks office.
"You know what? I thank god that you fired me. Finally I get the opportunity to get out of this whole!" I called mad.
"Watch your mouth, Ms. pratigya!" he called back at me, but I only smiled.
"Why? What do you want to do? Fire me? Too late. I wish you all the best, Mr. Balank. May your business break down." With that I left.
"Hey, pratigya.... Its me... again... please call me back... what is with you? Come on..... If you dont call me back Ill call the police and..." BEEEEEEEP
I was sitting in my flat, crying my heart out. Mr. Balank had fired me a few days ago and I didnt know what to do. There was no proper joboffer for me, I was really devastated.
krishna had called at least 10 times to check on me in the past few days, but I didnt want to see or talk to him, I wasnt even able to tell him that I lost my job, so I just ignored him.
The phone rang again.
"Please leave a message after the Beep." I heard my own voice.
"pratigya, I am at your work right now and guess what your boss told me... Damn it, why didnt you tell me??? Ok, I come to you now and if you dont open the door Ill... Beeeeeeep." again the Beep interrupted him. He had sound really mad and yes... concerned. I decided to take a quick shower and get ready, because I didnt want him to see how bad I felt.
About half an hour later he rang the doorbell. I sighed deep, put on a smile and opened.
"Hey krishna, how are you?" I asked as cheerfull as possible.
"Damn it, pratigya. I was ill. Why didnt you answer my calls?" He asked mad. I only shrugged my shoulders and went into the kitchen.
"I didnt feel like answering. Do you want something to drink? Oh... Im sorry, I forgot to go shopping..." I looked into my empty fridge.
krishna had followed me and now stood right behind me.
"Are you ok?" he asked so soft that I shivered.
"Umm... sure, why do you ask?" I answered, pretending to know nothing.
"pratigya... we are friends. I know you and I know that you are not ok." he put his hand on my shoulder and tried to turn me to him, but I shook it off and walked into the livingroom where I began to tidy up.
"Damn, Its really messy here. I never thought that I could be like Poo." I tried to joke, but surely failed.
"pratigya pratigya." Dev only said over and over again, trying to stopp me, but I wouldnt let him.
"Damn it pratigya!" he called, walked over to me and pulled me in his arms.
"krishna, let me go! Im ok, really. I cant breathe." I tried to struggle free, but he wouldnt let me go.
"No, you are not ok." he whispered. The more I tried to struggle free, the more he held me. On one hand it felt good to be held like that, on the other hand I didnt want him to know how unhappy I was. Finally I gave up and let my tears flow.
"What am I going to do now, krishna? Ive lost my job and I cant find a new one." I cried and held onto him.
"Shhhh... We get this, believe me." It took a while till I had calmed down, but then I realised that I was still in krishnas arms and blushed.
"Ahm.... thank you.... I..." I stuttered and looked at the ground.
"Its ok.... You know what? Well go to Rajev Uncle. The way you look you havent eaten in days. So get ready." But I hesitated.
"No krishna, please not. Im not feeling so good and I look horrible. Please I dont want to go out now." I looked begging at him, but he didnt listen to me.
"No way, pratigya. We are going. Get ready or go like you are, thats also fine with me."
About an hour later, we entered Rajev Uncles restaurant.
"Ah, the sun is rising." he called when he saw us. I bent down to touch his feet, but he pulled me up and hugged me so heartly that I felt the tears welling up again.
"What is with you Miss pratigya? Why are you so sad?" he asked concerned.
"What did you to to her, krishna? Why is she crying?" he asked krishna mad.
"He did nothing, Rajev Uncle." I answered fast. He looked me and krishna up and down, then he nodded.
"Take a seat. Ill get you the menu. You lost weight, you need to eat." He simply said.
We sat down on "our" table.
"Why is he so nice to me?" I asked krishna.
"He likes you, very much. He thinks you are good for me." he explained. I shot him a suprised look.
"What do you mean?" But right when he was about to answer, Rajev Uncle came back with the menu. He grabbed a chair and took a seat.
"And now tell me, why are you so sad?" He looked intently at me. I sighed.
"She has lost her job and cant find a new one." answered krishna for me. I looked mad at him and kucked him under the table.
"Ouch... what?" he called rubbing his leg.
"Thank you very much, krishna. I think Rajev Uncle doesnt want to hear that." Rajev Uncle giggled.
"You are really a great couple.... But why did you get fired?" I looked suprised at him.
"Well, the office where I worked had to fire me because the business isnt going too well."
"Pardon? Your ex-boss kicked her out already she earned far too less. But she told him off!" Rajev Uncle laughed out loud and slapped his leg.
"I knew there is a fighter in you, Miss pratigya. But, tell me. What kind of work did you do in your office?" I had to giggle.
"Well, normal things like making appointments, doing the accountancy, organizing events..." I answered.
"Wow, you seem to be quiet good at what you do..." he said after a while, then he got up to fetch something.
"Ok, I need somebody to help me in the restaurant. That would mean doing the accountancy, organizing events, but also to help serving if we have a lot to do. I cant pay very much, but at least its a job. What do you think?" He wrote a number on a paper and handed it to me.
I looked at it and jumped.
"No, Rajev Uncle. I cant take this offer. Thats one third more than I earned till now." I explained. Now Rajev Uncles expression changed into suprise.
"You are kidding... Dont tell me you earned that less."
"No, Im not. But thats really too much. Thank you for your offer, Rajev Uncle. But no." I handed him the piece of paper.
"No way, Miss pratigya. I didnt make you an offer, I asked you for help. And friends help each other. Can you start tomorrow?"
Der Didi,
You have no idea how happy I am for you that you found that new job. And Im so proud of you that you told that old, ugly Mr. Balank what you thought. Very good. Seems like my Didi has started to live... finally.
The way you wrote, the work at the restaurant must be very good. You seem to have a lot of fun working there.
Im so courious to meet Rajev Uncle when we come back home.
Wow, only another 3 months and Ill be back home. I really cant believe that its almost 2 years that I am here. Time really flies by.
But now I have to concentrate on my studies. I dont want to fail with my exams.
I really cant wait to come home, Didi.
Love you,
