Believe it or not, I am still in the process of finding the exact meaning of the term RangRasiya. I could only find the term "Rang Ras" in a classical Urdu dictionary which is translated as "gay life" in English.

I found another meaning for the term online: "the one who romances with the colors."

The third meaning I found is "Colour of Passion." This is an English translation for the title of Ketan Mehta's Bilingual movie RangRasiya released in 2010.

One of our fellow forum members Carbelli has chosen to translate it as "Beloved."

A fourth meaning would be someone madly in love with colors or a "Passionate Lover of Colors"

I am making this thread in the hope to find the exact meaning of the term as per our show RangRasiya. I'll keep adding layers of meaning to this complex term until we find the best translation even though I am convinced that we will never find the exact English equivalent.

Interesting.

There's apparently a term used "Banarasiya" in an old song. The writer here explains that it has a dual meaning. It could either mean a person who comes from Banaras or if we separate the words as Bana Rasiya, it would mean "became a mad lover." Now we all know that the hindi word Bana exactly translates as "became" in English. That is, rasiya is left as the mad lover.

Now we have RangRasiya. If Rasiya is a mad lover then could we put the two together (Rang + Rasiya) to yield "a passionate lover of colors"?

Interesting topic.

OK, here's my try...

"Rang" means colour and "Rasiya" means lover or beloved. Putting it together it would mean a beloved who colours you with his/her colour ie. become part of each other, become soulmates.

This is my take...when two individuals cease to exist and become one in soul.

according to me rang risya means a person who is behind colours such as youth, love. risya is a term given to a person with colourful heart but doesnot stay at place forever. after taking colur from one place it flys to second place in search of colour or love. for eg. bee goes around for honey. rang can be roop which means colour of youth, innocence. overall it is a term for flirting type of guy.

u r serching a meaning of a hindi word in urdu , how can u get correct , there r many hindi words whoes meaning is completely different in other language

ex - hug - hindi meaning is total diffrent but english mening is " gale lagna "
