His romantic gestures and promises to Paro blinded us to the fact that he could slice a cloth with his eyes in a blindfold , CVs threw the bait and we took it HOOK LINE & SINKER.
so mighty that we lamented for his loss of life and cursed Rudra for his recklessness.
When the precap on the first ad on last night's epi aired, I was shocked to say the least, the first name on my lips ... BRUTUS .. Varun is a larger than life version of Brutus.
Brutus atleast felt the bite of his betrayal to Caesar but Varun , well he didnt even flinch once before pointing the gun at Paro, it was like he had been anticipating an ambush all along and had been prepared.
Cunning & Calculated moves, playing the role of a devoted husband whose only concern is his wife's safety, not joining the others in the fight because he knew it would be equal to signing his own death warrant.
the rest of his accomplices atleast died a death fit for a man , they fought when they felt their being blown apart but Varun ? NO ... he preferred to watch his men die and use Paro as his protection to cross the borders.
Was I expecting this all along ?? well under normal circumstances , I would have expected the good guy to eventually turn into a badass but not with Varun, I genuinely believed him to be good , not just because of his "I am a gentleman "act but also because I was expecting a storyline from the CVs that wasnt explored before.
I am not attacking the creatives, its just that I hoped to see an angle where Varun's death is a mistake by Rudra committed out of ignorance & then see how he redeems himself in Paro's eyes .. that would definitely have been a first on a Desi Show where one of the leads genuinely commits a grave mistake and yet prove that even though his action was wrong, his intentions werent to purposefully cause pain to another soul.
but whats happened is something else and I have made peace with that, so yes back to Indian TV's Brutus which should truly be given to Varun.
Betrayal of the worst kind and what is worse is that Paro is ignorant of her husband's real face.
And adding more spice .. spoilers indicate that Rudra will suspect Paro to be part of the weapon trade, so basically its a 2 way mis-understanding and Thakur Tejawat will fully exploit it to his advantage.
Sanaya didnt utter a word but her expressions and eyes said it all ... she is flawless truly.
Ashish ... he was the showstealer last night ... a true patriot ... sure he has many other faults but his love for his country is pure unconditional and rules supreme ... a man who lost his own mother ... he embraces Mother India as his true Mother ... having taken the oath to serve her till death.
As for those who feel Varun is a chameleon who changed his act and abandoned Paro to save his own life but that he did have a soft spot for Paro ... I absolutely disagree.
If he even had an iota of care towards Paro or he ever was human .. he would never use her as bait or for that matter even let his uncle who raised him as his own be killed as he stood by and watched.
fact is he was playing all along because he knew that his chances of escaping alive across the border in case of an ambush would be more if he played a harmless guy who was truly besotted to his bride rather than being a man and showing his true colors.
My POV ... this is what it is .
